The Simple Woman's Daybook ...

FOR TODAY, August 16th, 2016

Outside ny window ...
Its shaping up to be a fine day.  I am loving the cooler mornings and nights, but warm days.   That is the kind of weather that I can quite happily live with.

I am thinking ...
Perhaps we will get to go on a day out and about today.  That would be nice.

In the Kitchen ...

Chunky Beef Chilli.  This is a healthier version of chili.  I enjoyed it all but the corn.   That I left behind.  You can cook it on top of the stove or in the slow cooker.

On my "To Cook" list ...

Baked Blueberry Fritter Bites.  These look fabulous.  Found on  The Baker Mama.
The wheels are turning here.

I am creating ...

A collection of crochet baby owls.  From the Whoot.

Pretty paper birds.  A complete Tutorial.  Found on  Thistlewood Farms.  Joyful Bird Tutorial.

Crochet Santas for Christmas (its never too early) from  Knitted Patterns.  It's free.

Personalized Scrabble Tile Ornaments.  I couldn't find a source but they look fairly easy to do.   I wonder where you could buy the scrabble tiles?

Recyled Spoon Wind Chimes . . .  from Let It Shine.

 I am reading ...

The Sister, by Louise Jensen

Grace hasn't been the same since the death of her best friend Charlie. She is haunted by Charlie's last words, and in a bid for answers, opens an old memory box of Charlie's. It soon becomes clear there was a lot she didn't know about her best friend.

When Grace starts a campaign to find Charlie's father, Anna, a girl claiming to be Charlie's sister steps forward. For Grace, finding Anna is like finding a new family, and soon Anna has made herself very comfortable in Grace and boyfriend Dan's home.

But something isn't right. Things disappear, Dan's acting strangely and Grace is sure that someone is following her. Is it all in Grace's mind? Or as she gets closer to discovering the truth about both Charlie and Anna, is Grace in terrible danger?

This is a page turner!

I am looking forward to ...
Apparently we have another Apostle coming to speak to the Mission in October.  Looking forward to that!  I wonder which one it will be!

I am learning to ...
Trying out calligraphy.  So far so good.  I hope I can stick with it.   It is good to learn new skills.

Dreaming about ...

Misty mornings  . . .

Sleepy Hedgehogs  . . . .

New Sheds  . . .  I could live in that.

Thatched roof cottages  . . .

A kitchen garden to write home about  . . .

A favourite quote for the day  ...

To know someone deeply
is like hearing the moon through the ocean
or having a hawk, lay bright leaves at your feet.
It seems impossible, even while it happens . . .

It is a real blessing to have someone I love to share my life with.   I try never to take it for granted.

Makes me smile ...

He's a good father.  All of my children are good parents.  Seeing your children bringing up their own children and doing it well makes a parent really happy.  It makes this mama happy at any rate!

One of my favourite things ...

Bacon  . . .  need I say more?

Corners of my kingdom ...

A photo I took at Betws-y-coed  in Wales a few years back.  The name means "Little Chapel in the Woods."  This is a picture of the chapel.  We had a brilliant day out there.

And that's my daybook for this week!

  6. Looking at your sons photo it reminded me how very much you look alike....wonder if you did go for a wee trip out today. If not there's always tomorrow. It's been very hot down here to hot even to sit out, however will cool down soon and after Emerdale I will go sit out for an hour or so. Yesterday Mary and I went to,Bristol to collect Lyn from her flight from Inverness she had had a lovely peaceful time on the island of Westray which is the farthest north island of the Shetlands. She loved the peace and all the archeology sites she can't wait to go back next year.....I have asked her if she would keep Masy for us when Maggie comes over from Texas..it would be good if we could perhaps leave her around 10 and Lyn can come and fetch her once she comes back from her Mothers..she is delighted to do that, she is so good...now I am happier and can plan ahead for nice places to rake her .... Enjoy the nice weather tomorrow I think forecast is to break down tomorrow evening...back to colder windy wet days...xxxx

  7. Your Daybook Entries are always amazing! I do hope you were able to have a day out. Our weather is so nice right now so we do need to enjoy it while we can. The Chuncky Beef Chili looks so yummy; I must try it. You always have such creative ideas. I see that Christmas is starting for you. I do love your dreams and the photos of them. I especially love the English home with the Thatched roof.
The book looks like a good one. I wish I could find time to read a novel; I love books. Maybe you should secretly let me know the end to this one and your last one.
I love the cute photo of your son and the Chapel in the woods.
I do love you are getting another general authority visit. We are looking forward to a Mission tour soon and that will have a general authority too.
Love and hugs for you dear friend!

  8. We ended up not going out Sybil, because the landlord was coming to fix our back gate, So Todd got busy burning some of the trimmings from the hedge. There is tons to be gotten rid of and I took the opportunity to do a deep clean in the bathroom. The exhaust fan in there has stopped working and so we get a build up of black mold which is very hard to get rid of. Anyways the mold is all gone now and the bathroom is sparkling from top to bottom. I want to go to the Shetlands myself. How wonderful that Lyn is going to take care of Masy for you while Maggie is there. Now today we may do something. We will see! There is Missionary work to do as well. xoxo Hugs and love right back! xoxo

LeAnn, "I" LOVE that we are doing our missions at the same time! I think you and Roger are much more effective than Todd and I have been allowed to be. I think it would have been far better had we been assigned a Ward further afield, but hey ho, it is what it is. We do what we can! Hugs and Blessings to you! xoxo
