Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens . . .

These are a few of my favourite things  . . .

Stone Angels.   I have always found the idea of Angels watching over us fascinating.  I love to read books about angelic encounters and think we may have all had one at one time or another, we just don't know it.  Sometimes angels are other people who just happen to be in the right place at the right time to help us.  Sometimes "WE" are the angels.  They don't always have wings.

Red and white anything, but especially dishes and linens.   That combination of red and white is one of my favourites . . .

Followed by blue and white, my second favourite colour combination . . .  especially in dishes.  Blue and white dishes make me swoon . . .

Pink paw pads, noses and . . .  yes . . .  whiskers on kittens . . .

But puppy whiskers are pretty awesome also.  Mitzie was only 8 weeks old in this photograph.  I remember when she was taken to her first grooming session and they trimmed her whiskers.  I was devastated.  I loved her puppy whiskers . . .

Polka Dots and Red Shoes . . . bliss.  Polka Dots and Red Shoes together . . .  HEAVENLY bliss.

Vintage Formica and Chrome tables and chairs.  If I ever won the lottery, I would indulge in a set for my kitchen because of course . . .

I would have a big old vintage country style kitchen.   I love vintage looking kitchens with their big farmhouse sinks and rustic wood . . .

And vintage ranges . . .  sigh . . .

Period Dramas . . .  both in television shows and films . . .  and books.

Ladybugs   . . .

Sunflowers  . . .

Knit stockings  . . . so warm, so pretty . . .

Tea Parties  . . .  be it for one, or two, or a whole group.  So much fun.

A big comfy chair to curl up in and a good book to curl up with . . .

Warm hands and toasty toes . . .  the smell and sound of logs crackling in the fire . . . the winds may rage outside the door, but inside we are toasty warm.

The smell of a new box of crayons . . .

The Gospel of Jesus Christ which brings hope to all . . .

This little madame  . . .

This man God gave me  . . .

Our life together  . . .

  1. Good morning Marie I have had a very long day. Beth has jetlag so we were up so very early. I made her a double batch of scones to take to work this morning. Then Will informed me that he had the dentist today. Things went well until something went very wrong. For now I am still feeling shattered.

The kitten looks so like a baby Tonks. Kittens and puppies are special little things.

    God bless your day.

  3. I have made another long road trip tonight. Beth is way too tired to be visiting friends a long way from home. So another trip across three cities has happened.

For now all is blissfully and peacefully me, my computer and a noisy MacDonald's while I await Beth's call. Tomorrow she is going interstate for four days. The girl hasn't even recovered from flying halfway around the world.

    God bless.

  7. I am supposed to go to choir tonight and I am still coughing and spluttering. I may go and just listen.

I meant to tell you this as I thought you would get a great giggle out of this. Often on the weekends dad would go fishing with his mates and we would stay at my adopted aunt's home. She was and still is most particular and Sunday's were never easy. Firstly it was up early, make beds, get into Sunday best, breakfast which was always sloppy porridge then every child marched off to Sunday school while the adults recovered from the stress. I must have been very young as I remember tucking threepence into my gloves and we moved to decimal currency just before my fourth birthday.

So onto the story. Four to seven frightened children who had failed everything from bed making to dressing or worse still succeeded at porridge spilling were clustered around the table. It was a lovely green setting, very much like the one you have shown today. We stood and the two or three mothers sat. This particular Sunday was worse than most. We girls had starched dressed with net skirts and no one dared scratch an itch or make any movement. Heads were recombed. pulled into tight plaits etc. Then my aunt sat down. Everyone watched in mute terror as she slowly sank below the table. The chair legs gave way with a slow, yet elegant splay. No snap! Not a sound! Just a slowly sinking adult with a stunned look upon her face. It was inevitable that someone giggled. Fortunately she then saw the funnier side of things. However we still scurried off.

Nearly 50 years on the table survives but the chairs are long gone.
