A few of my favourite things . . .

These are a few of my favourite things  . . .

Crisp white cotton bed sheets, preferably with a high thread count.   They are luxurious and a pleasure to slip between at the end of the day, especially if they have been hung up out of doors.  When I worked at the Manor I loved making the beds on the days that I had that responsability.  Their sheets were magnificent.  The best quality that money could buy.   Perhaps one day . . .  in the meantime, I buy the best that I can afford to buy and luxuriate in them.

Quality egyptian cotton bath towels . . .  yes, also in white.  It is worth it to pay a bit more for your towels.  They will last a lifetime and they feel so much nicer on the skin, and oh . . .  they dry better because they are much more absorbant.

Pretty pillow cases, and these don't have to be white.  The prettier the better and if they are also embroidered, or lace trimmed . . .  I love them even more . . .

Do you think I might have been a Princess in a previous lifetime?   Who knows!

I also love white crockery  . . .  but am even more thrilled if it is trimmed with either blue or red, but especially blue.  Blue and white are one of my favourite color combinations, with red and white close on its heels . . .  predictable?  Maybe  . . .

Antique Iron Bed Frames . . .  I love them.  I truly do.

And they don't have to be overly ornate.  I particularly like this one.  It is simple, and yet still beautiful . . .

I absolutely adore this kitchen . . .  Shaker styling.   I love shaker Style anything, or Swedish design.  I could very happily live with this.

Red front doors  . . . I love red doors.  They appear so welcoming.   We had a red door on the house that we built.   I painted it red myself.   It was lovely and had sidelight windows down the sides of the door and a fan window over top of the door . . .  and such a beautiful kitchen.   I loved that house . . .

Cotton weave blankets.   Love, love them . . .

Lemons  . . .  lemon in anything  . . .  with chicken, fish . . .  cakes and bakes . . .  pies, cookies . . .  drinks  . . .  just sitting in a bowl.   I love lemons.

Clouds . . .  from above or below . . .  I could look at them for hours.  Some of them make you feel as if you could just prance upon them, like dancing on marshmallows . . .  some look cuddly . . .  some ferocious . . . some are like whisps of nothing  . . .  sometimes they make pictures.  I love clouds.

And that is my favourite things for this week.  What are some of yours?

A thought to carry with you through today  . . .

I hope that you have a wonderful Thursday!  The sun is shining here.  I hope it is where you are!  Don't forget  . . .

  1. Gosh, got in first try this morning!!....must be a good omen for the day...I think you are wonderful thinking up new things almost every week to share with us. Lots of your fav.things are also mine....nothing unusual about that, we share so many things.....I'm not quite so sure about thick towels..unlike you I don't find them so good at drying me LOL...also I love towels but they never seem to wear out ! And I'm always seeing new ones I like, but can't buy as they are not needed !!....I'm glad actually that you mentioned towels as I had forgotten to put them out in the back bedroom for Sheila my friend who arrives today for a week, I will collect her in Bath at 4 she will be leaving Edinburgh right now...it's 8am ...looks like another lovely day ahead much cooler and less humid. I managed to get a good sleep last night, first night this week...now must go and sort out the towels !! Hope you have a lovely day and that your feeling much better xxx

  2. Oh, I do hope that you have a lovely visit with your friend Sybil!! I didn't sleep too well last night. I had an awfully hard time slipping off, but once I did, I slept like a baby. Much cooler this morning, which is great! Have a lovely day! xoxo

  3. Good morning Marie. I have had a very busy day because mum is now quite sick and has bronchitis. The poor thing can hardly catch her breath. It has been hot here. When I came back to my car today it read 32. I feel so very hot. Hopefully it is just the weather. It is midwinter and I have a fan on and really want to turn on the air con.

Favourite things. At the moment I am loving watching the moon rise. The last few nights it has been large and seem a beautiful friend. Angels that walk among us. I was coming home from my haematology appointment and an older lady talked with me and kissed me when she left the bus. I also love the rhythm of knitting. I look forward to the times when I can sit quietly and knit. I don't always but I often watch tv while I knit. Pennies by the wayside. I have found coins in the carpark near me yesterday and today. I am fighting temptation and not buying more colouring stuff or wool. I love to play with textures and colour.

  4. That is what the temps have been like here Suzan. I am not a huge fan of that kind of heat, especially when accompanied with humidity! I cannot imagine it being that hot in mid-winter! Poor you! Summer must be asbolutely unbearable! I love your favourite things. It was full moon last night, but we had cloud cover so could not see it. Loving the angels which walk among us. Pennies by the wayside, and yes, colouring stuff and wool. I like to play too as you know only too well! xoxo
