Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny?...It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. what you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Sunshiny days! I love, Love, LOVE sunshiny days!  We have had an abundance of them. Somehow everything looks brighter and happier on a sunshiny day! You just feel more up.

Sweet dreams and a good night's sleep. Do you remember your dreams?  Most of the time I do.  They are like watching a movie in my head.

Being able to forgive people.  That doesn't mean that you forget . . .  there are somethings that others do to you will probably never be able to forget. Forgiving means however that you no longer allow those things to have any measure of impact or importance in your life. You just let them go.  Some things are a bit harder to forgive than others, but it is possible to forgive all things.  Forgiveness is healing. Forgiving others is a gift you give yourself and releases you from the bondage of bad feelings.

The capacity I have for being able to find the joy in every day.  That doesn't mean that every day is a good day, but it does mean that I am able to find some good IN every day.  I no longer chase pots of gold at the end of the rainbow, or numbers, etc.  I just simply do whatever I want to do, every day.  If writing brings me joy, then I write. If I feel like baking, cooking, sewing, knitting, whatever . . .  I do it and I find joy in the present. I have learned to say no to the things I don't want to do and to embrace the things I do want to do and I do them just for me, because I like doing them.  Not for any other reason.  I no longer have the desire to be the best at anything.  It simply doesn't matter anymore.  If it brings joy into my life or into someone elses, and if it is pleasing to God . . . . then that is all that matters to me.  Once you remove the pressure to meet the expectations of others, life becomes exciting.

This has been my life's work and it has made a difference in the world.  Its nothing new. Its something I read/heard/believed a long time ago, but always struggled with.  Accepting that there are some things you will never be able to change and putting them behind you, is a step forward. Making positive change where and as you can, is a step forward. Letting go and letting God . . . is a step forward.

Living the unceasing prayer.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to pray without ceasing.  That doesn't mean that you spend all day, every day on your knees, although certainly there are times when you do need to be on your knees.  It means that you carry a constant prayer in your heart . . .  that you carry God with you always.  As we move through our days, we acknowledge Him in all things.  Thank Him when things are going great, look to Him when they aren't, never forget Him. If someone comes into your mind, say a prayer in your heart for them.  Silent prayers have the capacity to be some of the most profound prayers we ever offer.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct your path.
~Proverbs 3:6

You can't go wrong!

Knowing that each day which we are given contains the option of a new beginning if we so choose it.  And the choice is ours to make. If you are brave enough to say goodbye, life always awards you with the opportunity for a new hello.

Its fledgling time  . . .  I love watching them in the garden. They are getting braver and soon we won't be able to tell the newbies from the old hacks  . . . this morning it was black birds. I love nature.

A happy childhood, filled with love and all the things I needed.  I never once went to bed hungry or had to live in constant fear. I was surrounded by people who cared for me, and was free to run through the grass in my bare feet, pick wildflowers and berries, play games . . . sleep under the stars in wonder.  I was educated and fed and clothed and my health was well taken care of, my teeth, my eyes, my body.  I had clean water and plenty to eat . . . . toys to play with and time to play. So many children in the world never ever have a fraction of what I had and took for granted.  I wish I could wave a magic wand and give everyone the childhood that I had. It was not perfect, but it was pretty darned close.

I love and am loved.  I have always been blessed in this way.  God is good.

I have lived and am living a life filled with abundance . . .  and best of all I know this, I recognise this. I don't take any of it for granted and where and when I can, I try to share it with others.  A blessing shared is a blessing doubled. A grain of rice shared between two people brings joy to them both.

And that's the best way to live your life.  A thought to carry with you . . .

I'm a success today because
I had a friend who believed in me,
and I didn't want to let him down.

In The English Kitchen today, Peach Pie Roll Ups.  Simple.  Easy to make.  Delicious.

My sister and I are going to be brave today and take a trip up to Michael's. There were only 8 new cases yesterday of the virus and none in our region.  Cindy wants to pick up some ink. I just like going along for the drive, but you never know what I will see. I do need some frames and mats.

I hope your week ahead is filled to overflowing with goodness.  Your day also.  Whatever you get up to, don't forget!
