Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny?...It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. what you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Homemade hot buttered crumpets with jam on a Sunday night, while we watch one of our favourite Sunday night television shows, Country File.  Could anything be more Home Sweet Home?  I think not  . . .

Todd feeling well enough to attend all of our church meetings yesterday. Yes, the whole three hours. He did spend the rest of the afternoon in bed, but I was really happy that we could stay the whole time.  Enjoyed all the talks given in Sacrament meeting and the lessons in Sunday School and Relief Society.  It was great!

Snuffles and cuddles with this little lady.  Oh, we do so love her.  She will be 7 years old in June.  It is hard to believe.  She's very vocal and tries very hard to communicate with people. She's a treasure.

Sunday nights with Inspector George Gently.  Not near enough of them, but I'll take however many I can get.

This latest and last series ever (*sniff*sniff) is set in the early 1970's so it has progressed from the 60's.  I have always loved the authenticity of this police series. It gets everything right.

A new post from Susan Branch.  A week that starts off with one of these is sure to be a really good week.  I've been loving on Susan and her work since the 1980's. I only discovered she had a blog a few years back.  This latest post is all about her getting on top of the mess in her house, with stacks of books, etc.  This is so me.  This is so what I have been doing these past months.  Clearing the clutter, getting rid. Creating white space, and I agree with Susan . . .  its invigorating and like a breath of fresh air!  I still got a ways to go, but I am getting there and so is she.

I totalaly adore her new mugs.   I can't afford one, but if I could I would have one of each.  Everything that woman's paint brush touches turns to gold.   Love, love her work and more importantly, love, love the woman.  She is NICE and genuine. A great role model for us women everywhere. Everything she does seems like it came right out of my own head.  lol   Not sure if that makes sense or not, but it resonates completely with how I feel and think about everything.  Same loves.  Same quirks.  Same everything.  A kindred spirit.

Free Eye Tests.  Having my Eye Test this week and I am of an age now where it is free.  So grateful for that!  I am also of an age where I get free prescriptions and in days gone not too far in the past I would have a free bus pass as well.  I still got a ways to wait for that now however.

We have a date to go to the Temple tomorrow.  Can't wait. Its been too long. Its gorgeous this time of year.  All the flowers, etc. I am really looking forward to it.

We have sent off the final cheque to pay for our Scottish Holiday now.  No turning back.  Its done and dusted.  I can't wait!  My knee is still dodgy, but I will persevere!  It will just be nice to get away from it all!  There is WiFi in the hotel lobby, so I should still be able to stay in touch.

Daily messaging on FB with my dear daughter Eileen.  We do have fun.  Love her to bits.  Love all my kiddos to bits.

Phone calls with mum.
Tea and Cake (herbal of course)
Each one of you.

ALL blessings, all wonderful.
Life is good.

A thought to carry with you  . . .

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  Hunter's Chicken.  So good.

I hope your week ahead if filled to overflowing with small and wonderful things  . . .  don't forget along the way . . .

  2. Good morning Maire you have a wonderful time away. I hope it feels good to have paid for the time away. It is also wonderful that Todd was able to manage the full services yesterday. He deserves a rest afterward.

I must try making crumpets some day. I love them with butter and only butter. The world of modern technology has broken many barriers. It is lovely to think that you are able to contact your family so very far away.

My day has had a few twists and turns and I am looking forward to taking my battered body to bed.

  4. I love SB too..

so many yrs of memories..I am dating myself..and you are very much sharing the same head ideas:)

I wish for you a great success with your book so that you can afford all the new mugs..
I really have had to put a stop to objects of deisres i the US..

our $ is worth far less than theirs..and shipping is out of this world.
I don't know how Society 6..can offer free shipping(love) Ebay..Wish..the latters take a long time ..with Wish taking 3 months..

but almost all US Companies charge and arm and a leg and an extra leg to ship here..but..then again Canda Post is not cheap either..

it's a wonder how some can ship so cheaply.

    EX..

A Fancy Flour order..even if you order 12 muffin cups..paper..last time I looked it was $40.US to ship here..so $54.03 CDN.. I remember when our $ was so valuable..I love my Canada♥Just not the rate.
That is GREAT that Mr T feels better!!
Oh the miraculous way a body can heal itself in some instances..♥
    Happy for your trip too!

  7. Thanks Sybil. We are going mid June. Actually the McMillan cancer trust paid for most of the holiday so that was good. Eileen is still planning on coming over for the full month of September.. Hopefully she will make it. We talk every day on Facebook! Xoxo

Homemade crumpets are so good Suzan! You have to try them! Hope you are able to get a good nights sleep! Xoxo

Thanks Pam! I hope you have a great week also! Xoxo

I could not believe how high Canadian postage was the last time I was home Monique! I mailed some herbs to my sister and one small envelope cost a bomb! I can understand why my family never sends me cards. They have families to care or. Hoping Todd continues to improve daily and our trip will be good for him! Xoxo

Thanks Jan! Blessings and hugs. Oxox
