My favourite things . . .

These are a few of my favourite things  . . .

Anything crispy . . . . fried chicken, chips, lettuce, cookies, cereal.  I like things that are crisp and crunchy.  Pickles.  Crackers.  Toast. Pastry.  Cookies.  Sometimes over here in the UK it is a challenge to keep things crisp, like cereal.   It is such a damp climate that things can go soggy or soft rather quickly.  That is why I am a stickler about closing things up tightly.  I use clothespins a lot for this.  Roll it up and clap it shut is my motto.  It annoys me to no end to open my cereal and see that someone has not bothered to do this.  No names mentioned.

I like a bit of a challenge.  I don't want things to come to me too easily.  I want to have to work for them a bit.  I like solving puzzles, figuring out how things work, finding solutions to problems.  Don't get me wrong, I don't like it when they are too hard.  I don't think anyone does, but I don't want everything falling right into my lap either.  Well, maybe occasionally is alright, but not all the time.

I love fountains.   Isn't this an unsual one?   I love it!  I love sitting and listening to water trickle.  I would love to have a fountain in the garden, but alas, I think it is beyond us.  Thankfully there are plenty of other fountains about to have a look at and enjoy.   I have often thought about getting an indoor fountain. Just a small one.  I wonder how hard they are to look after.

I love history.   I didn't really like it that much at school.  I found it boring there.  All dates and stuff.  But I love reading about historial things, and historial novels.  I love watching television programs based on history, and historical dramas.  I love visiting historial sites, museums, etc.

I love seeing things like chairs turned into little flower gardens.  Old boots.  Tea pots, etc.  I just love seeing flowers sprouting all over the place.   I find them very charming.  One time when we went to France, we came across a garden that had been created using old vehicles. It was fascinating and beautiful.

Google search.  It is one of my favourite things.  I love it more than any other search engine out there.  It is so easy to use and always finds what I am looking for.

I love chocolate.  I love chocoate bars.  Chocolate buttons.  Chocolates.   Chocolate cake.  Chocolate Frosting.  Brownies.  Chocolate chip cookies.  Chocolate pudding. (Haven't had that in a while.)  The only chocolate I don't like is chocolate milk or chocolate ice cream.   I also don't like chocolate cereals, but only because they turn the milk into chocolate milk, which . . . I don't like.  I like dark chocolate most of all, but have a special fondness of Green & Black's Dark Milk Chocolate.

Early mornings.  They are my special time.  When the rest of my world hasn't gotten up yet.  I like to sit and ponder, pray, smell the early morning smell of dew on the grass, hear the early morning chorus, etc.  Early morning is my favourite time of day.

I love the humble potato.  It is my favourite vegetable.  I love them baked, boiled, mashed, fried and everything in between.

I love the colour red.  Of all the colours.  It is my favourite, followed closely by blue and then yellow.

Why does it feel so good?

Todd has gotten through his second treatment.  Only 18 to go.  So far so good.  He feels alright thus far and had a good dinner when he got home yesterday.  fingers crossed it continues.  Thanks for all your happy thoughts and prayers!  My Plantar Fasciitis has kicked in big time.  I could hardly walk come yesterday afternoon.   I was in agony last night.   I have felt it coming on for several months or so now.  I got some special pressure socks and I have been wearing them night and day, probably for about six months, but they haven't prevented it from happening.  I hope it goes off soon . . .

A thought to carry with you through today  . . .

  1. Hi Marie, so pleased everything is going well for Todd. Time flies so quick the next eighteen will soon be over.
My favourite colour is yellow, followed closely by purple. I also love white.
I too have plantar fasciitis which can be so painful and debilitating. Mines worse first thing in the morning when I get out of bed, also if I've been sitting for a while during the day and then get up. I'm hobbling all over the place! The joys of growing old! Hahaha! Lots of love xxx

  2. Good morning my darling Marie,

My favourite colour would be blue I think. I never used to like green but lately I love a very soft sagey green. I had some fun this afternoon playing withe some f the new Tilda range. It always takes a little longer to reach here.

I feel for you. I get this too and I am so careful about my footwear. Mum is always telling me to try on footwear and becomes upset when I refuse. It is not worth the pain. I hope it feels better soon. One podiatrist recommended I freeze water in a coke bottle and roll my feet on that.

I am so happy that Todd has sailed through his first treatments. It is good that he is eating well too.

I did most of my packing today. I need to throw in some cool gear for the last few days but it almost done.

We have had a forecast of rain for all of this week. I finally saw a little today.

God bless you and keep you.

  5. Marie..Rachel Ray is on she has a podiatrist and she recommends..for your conditio a double rubber ball attached in the middle..you roll your feet on that 5 minutes.. each foot..also there is a toe separator..apparently if toes are bunched it can add to the problem..
    one piece..

the balls seem to be called..
Double peanut massage balls..I googled..hers had no spikes..smooth..attached:)

As you can see GOOGLE is my search engine always..always.

  6. I too suffered from plantar fasciitis (it appears we all do!)I rolled my foot (actually both had it to some degree) on a frozen water bottle, did the stretches off of the stair (Google it), but the thing that helped the most was wearing cheap supermarket inserts for plantar fasciitis in shoes literally every waking hour except bed and shower. I wore them past when the pain was gone and now wear Crocs shoes inside the house at all times. I never wear barefeet when I am up, and NEVER, EVER wear house slippers anymore. This way I can wear whatever decently supportive shoes I want out of the house. No problems in a couple years. My sister had a cortisone shot in her foot, but I managed to avoid that.

  7. Oh dear poor you Marie, I do pray that the pain will ease off a bit soon, there are some good ideas above In particular the insoles may be the answer, you could ask in the Scholls shop I'm sure there will be one in Chester.....pleased though that Todd is standing up to the treatment, does he have the weekend of ?...I think my favourite colour is pink in all shades from lilac to red...I also like blue and White....like you I don't like chocolate drinks or ice creams...I am definitely a morning person. By this time of night I'm long ready for bed ...night night. God Bless. Xxxx

  8. Yay! This comment thing worked this time! I was surprised that you don't like chocolate ice cream! When Friendly's Forbidden Chocolate and Cherry ice cream is cheap then I stock up. I eat ice cream mostly in the summer months though. My fav colors right now are orange and sky blue. Then purple and red, until I change my mind. Lol. I hope you are feeling better! Hugs and prayers to both of you! Jan

  9. I had it quite badly when I was working at the Manor Kate. Not fun when I had to spend 8 hours at least a day, standing. I had physio for it and all sorts. They made me special inserts at the hospital to wear, but I could not cope with them. Felt like I was standing on rocks, and hurt even worse. I spent all day yesterday with them taped and it feels better today, so I will do the same for today. Getting older isn't pretty for sure! Thanks! xoxo

I love Tilda anything Suzan. I love the little pouch you made me with the fabrics. So sweet and cherished. God bless and happy packing! Thanks dear friend! xoxo

Thanks Pam! I will be okay. At least my problems are not as scary as the big "C". Three down and 17 to go! xoxo

Thanks Monique. I will check it out. Mr T says Hi. He has a morning session today so will be up very early to get the show on the road! Got some lovely flowers yesterday from the next door neighbor. She is so kind. xoxo

Thanks Laura! I will have to check at the shops for those. Have been doing the exercises and strapping which has helped a bit. I have had cortizone shots in the past. You are only allowed two per joint per lifetime. I am afraid I have exhausted that path. Bummer. xoxo

Thanks Sybil! He does get the weekends off Sybil. I must say the NHS is so good. He was giving a huge tub of cream to use in case of any irritation, and of course the free transport back and forth and everyone is so kind at the hospital. Hope you slept well! I was falling asleep in front of the telly. xoxo

Yay Jan! I don't mind if there is choclate IN the ice cream, like a chocolate ripple, I just don't like the ice cream itself to be chocolate. There was a gorgeous candycane chocolate crackle ice cream I used to love back home that you could only get at Christmas. It was gorgeous. thanks for your hugs, prayers and happy thoughts! xoxo
