The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, Jan 29th, 2019

Outside my window ...
Its dark and cold. They say that a great deal of the country is in for snow. I say bring it on.  Might make a change from wind and rain.

I am thinking ...
Not sleeping well. I am really struggling here.  I know these feelings will pass, or at least I hope that they will. I don't want to be a bore, so will keep them to myself.  Just know that I am struggling with coming to terms with things.

I am thankful ...

I am reading ...

The Handmaid and the Carpenter, by Elizabeth Berg

This wonderful novel transports us to Nazareth in biblical times, where we meet Mary and Joseph–and understand them as never before: young, in love, and suddenly faced with an unexpected pregnancy. Aided by a great and abiding love, they endure challenges to their relationship as well as threats to their lives as they come to terms with the mysterious circumstances surrounding the birth of their child, Jesus. For Mary, the pregnancy is a divine miracle and a privilege. For Joseph, it is an ongoing test of his faith–in his wife as well as in his God. Exquisitely written and imbued with emotional truth and richness of detail, The Handmaid and the Carpenter explores lives touched profoundly by miracles large and small.

I've had to put away The Story of Arthur Truluv for the time being, not that it isn't good. But it is all about death and I don't need to be reading that at the moment.

Looking Forward To ...

  1. Dear Marie don't bottle up your emotions. None of us would ever consider you a bore. You are a wonderful person, and that is why I come to your blog everyday, to see how you and your family are. You need to voice your feelings, especially during trying times. So please don't shut yourself off, we all care, and I am doubling down on prayer for you. Dale

    1. Thank you very much Dale. I am okay in the daytime. I keep busy and try not to think. Its worse at night when I crawl into bed and try to go to sleep. I can't stop my thoughts. I appreciate your prayers. xoxo

  2. You have always been a sharer of your feelings..so don't stop now.
    I appreciate that in you.
It is you..If your grief needs company..and it does..share with us..many of us have lived through what you are living albeit w/ many different components to it's equation.
So once in a while someone might say the right word to help ease the sorrow.
Truth is though..only you know and feel the depth.
But Grace popping over.. a sweet gesture from Todd..a note from your sister or brother..an email..all these things help.
And ..well..you have Faith with a capital F.
    Take care:)

  3. 'Thinking of you, Marie. ♥ You have been all my mind, but Google didn't publish my twice-sent comment last week last week. I am reading along and keeping you in prayer.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so glad your sister could be there with her.

I'm so glad you were able to participate[ate in the services--I read your beautiful Google document--and could watch (even if not hear).

I'm so glad for all the large and small kindnesses that are popping up in your days. I wish you more (and better) sleep in your nights.

    Sigh. Love to you, Marie.

I liked Monique's comment that her mom and yours are likely becoming friends now. I can see that--and it's actually fun to think about--how sweet for you both. :) ♥

    Hugs,

    Val

    1. That idea cheered my heart also Val. I like the idea of our mother's becoming friends also. It is hard, but I try to find a blessing in each day. Most times I do. xoxo

  5. Hi Marie~

I have to agree with the others who have commented...please share, this is a safe place full of people who love you and want to be there for you. It's so hard to lose a loved one, especially a mother, I still grieve for my mom everyday...it's getting easier, but time does seem to heal that deep pain. And, I've said it before, your mom is close by, loving you. I love what Elder Holland said: "Don't underestimate your family on the other side of the veil." It's so true. Ezra Taft Benson reminded us that: "Our loved ones who have passed are not far from us". Another truth. Hang in there, keep posting, keep sharing, and remember how much you are loved. XOXO

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

    1. Thank you for those special truths Barb. I have been doing a lot more scripture reading and reading talks, etc. There is a lot of comfort to be found in the words. Love and hugs to you also, xoxo

  6. Do be kind to yourself, Marie... and don't feel like you must shield your feelings, or make this a happy only place, etc. You are a sister-friend of my heart...so you feel like family to me. :) So I always look forward to what you share here--everything! Life is full of so much... and sometimes the path of life is harder to walk. I'm so sorry you're in the valley right now... But God is ever close! :) And my you find comfort in all the love that surrounds you. LOVE YOU ((LOVE & BIG HUGS)) P.S. Those quilted kitties are sooo CUTE!! I didn't know of this Elizabeth Berg novel... what a wonderful take on the Holy Family!
