The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, November 19th, 2019

Outside my window...
Its dark and cold, but not raining. Not yet anyways.  Never say never when it comes to rain in this country!

I am thinking ...
About how quickly your life can change, and my friend Tina.  How just a week ago she was getting ready to go to the Temple, looking forward to staying overnight and having a beautiful spiritual experience and how she has now been in hospital a week now, in terrific pain, from having been in that horrible accident. Like Monique says, your life turns on a dime.  A reminder that we have to grab and enjoy each moment we are given and appreciate it for what it is.  A gift.

I am thankful for ...
My cup truly runneth over. My life is filled with blessings, but the biggest blessing of all is that I recognise the fullness of my life and appreciate it all.  I am so grateful that my cup is half full instead of being half empty.

In the kitchen ...

Hot Turkey Salad.  Perfectly sized for two, but easy to double or triple to feed more. If you use low fat ingredients, its not that bad for you, and this time I topped it with Broccoli Crisps which are like potato chips, but they are made with broccoli.  Really delicious!

On my "To Cook" list ...

Olive Tomato.  Quick & Easy Greek Cheese and Herb Pie.  This looks fabulous!

 Good to know ...

This could come in handy.

I am creating ...
Itty Bitty Bear Cubs pattern. Knitted hat for preemies.  You know hospitals are always in need  of preemie hats.

Hinke on Ravelry. Hot Water Bottle Cosy Pattern. Free.

Savlabot. Knit or crochet scrunchies.

Darling Jadore.  Haze scarf. Not free.

Lets Crochet. Ruffled Flower Hair bows. Cute!

I am reading ...

Heartless, by Marissa Meyer
Long before she was the Queen of Hearts, Catherine Pinkerton was just a girl who wanted to fall in love. Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favourite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere.

A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen. Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

From New York Times bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles, Marissa Meyer, comes a vision of Wonderland like none you’ve seen before, telling the untold story of the girl who would become the notorious Queen of Hearts.

I have only just begun this.

    1. I have been slow to respond this week Monique! Sorry about that! She is a shining example to me of positivity! xoxo

  2. Oh yes, we should always be thankful for what we have, it could always be worse. Life can change on a dime and I've learned that lesson well. Enjoy what you have while you have it. Hopefully your back pain is doing better. You haven't said anything about it lately. I don't mean to jinx it, just wondering.

    1. We never know what will land on our plate from one day to the next Pam. That's why I try to enjoy what I can whenever I can. My back pain is a whole lot better. It has hardly bothered me at all today which is a real blessing! That Chiropracter has really helped, thank goodness! xoxo
