My Favourite Things . . .

A few of the things which catch my eye, inspire me, pluck at my heart strings, make me smile, or that I just enjoy.  Maybe they will do the same for you.

The art of Alida Akers.  Her little cottages are all so sweet.  Real storybook cottages.

Old recipes.  Most are still very valid and quite delicious! I love the adage "If it isn't broken, don't fix it!"

Maria Walker's Textile Art.  She is phenomenal.  I actually attended one of her workshops about 9 years ago!  It was a great day!  Her Lightfoot Letters exhibition was amazing! I also got to meet the poet Angela Topping.

True life stories of true life people.  Amazing people. Ordinary people doing amazing things.  Making a difference. They truly inspire me.

Pretty things . . .  this sink is beautiful . . . .

Simple  . . . .  loving the shaker cabinetry, wooden countertops, butler's sink, drawer pulls, open shelving, stone floor . . . . and the light!

Kate Winslet's cottage in the film, "The Holiday."

Carpets with pastel florals  . . .

Attic rooms  . . .

Making the most of the space you have  . . .

The Scriptures. They are filled with inspiration and help.

Just my style  . . .  if I had the body for it.  Casual chic . . .

The Ballet  . . .  so elegant and mystical.

Pearls  . . .  Pearls  . . .  pearls  . . .

Autumn colours  . . .  like a paintbox of oranges, lemons and reds  . . . .

Hummingbirds  . . .  we don't have them here . . .

Sunflowers.  When we lived down in Kent we grew enormous ones!

Fairy wings . . . if I had a pair, I would wear them.

Whiskers . . .  beautiful on cats, not so much on my chinny chin chin  . . .  its not fair.

Sleigh beds  . . .

Blue skies, windmills and buttercups . . .

Messy  . . .  pretty  . . .

Everything about this  . . .  the orange cat, the ligh, the stove . . . .

And those are my favourite things for this week. What are some of yours?

A thought to carry with you   . . .

  2. Hi Marie, we have rain here today, too, but we needed it. That is a special tribute to Irena Sendler. Everyone should know about her. Love that pretty sink. Off to clean the strawberries - the first crop of Ontario ones. Love them with brown sugar and a dab of sour cream. Hugs, Elaine

  3. Lovely ideas and thanks for the article on Irena Sendler!! Sure shows the values of this world!! What a brave woman!! Hunting Hilter is a series Hubby and I have been watching on Hulu...mercy...so astounding how many people helped the most wicked of people escape being caught after WW2!!

    1. Hitler was a monster Elizabeth! Its a good thing there were plenty of good people about to help others, or it would have been even worse than it was! I pray that history never repeats itself. Alls it takes for evil to exist is for good people to do nothing. Plenty of good people did nothing. Love and hugs, xoxo

  4. This is on one of my favorite posts. I like cottages so this is unique art. Old time recipes are the best and I want to try this one.
Wow that is a story of a very amazing woman. I feel a bit angry that she didn't get the peace prize. What's up with that??
