A few of my favourite things . . .

These are a few of my favourite things.  Maybe you like the same things too?

I don't really drink a lot of hot drinks.  I am more of an ice cold drink kind of person, but I adore Tea Pots.   Not sure why, but there you have it.  This one combines several of my loves.  First it is a tea ot, second  it is red and white and third it has red and white polka dots! Love, Love, LOVE!

Ladybugs, except that they are called Ladybirds over here.  Love those too.  I am not sure if it is the polka dot thing but strongly suspect that is it in a nut shell, because aside from these and bumblebees and butterflies, I hate insects.

I  feel no explanation is in order.    Umm . . .  teapot, ladybird, polka dots . . .

I adore brooches . . . I love to wear them on Sundays.  I have a few.  I like rhinestones best of all and I have a couple of butterfly ones that I love.  This is a ladybug rhinestone brooch!  Three loves combined.

I think I found a new favourite hair colour. Rainbow.  Well . . .  blue/pink/purple rainbow.

Teddy bears, dogs, rabbits . . . This is a Wendi's Bear. Except its not a bear, its a dog.  I used to make a lot of bears and sell them from really large ones down to really small ones.

This is one I made a few years back called Mimsey Bear.  I need to make a bear again.   I love making them.

Bacon.   Anywhere, anytime, anyhow.   I love bacon.  On my plate.  In a sandwich.  In a salad.  On its own.  Cold.  Hot.  Everything in between.  Streaky.  Back.  Canadian.  Peameal.  I love bacon.  Just the smell makes me go mmm . . . .

Chinese food, and in particular the Chinese Buffet where I get to pick my favorites and leave the rest.   Normally when you order Chinese food by the combo plate, you don't get all your favorites on one plate.  Sure you can order your favourites as separate dishes, but that costs a lot more.  At a buffet you get to pick and choose.  My favourites are . . . and in random order . . .  sweet and sour chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken wings, beef and broccoli, beef and noodles, beef in black bean sauce and spring rolls.  By the time you take a little dab of each you are stogged to the hilt, but what a way to go . . .

I love my new Pressure King Pro Digital Pressure Cooker.   I treated myself to one with my Christmas money.  I have always wanted  a pressure cooker, but was a little bit afraid of them because one of our neighbors when I was a child had been badly burned using a pressure cooker.  These new digital ones are so safe and they work like magic.  This one is so easy to use.  I have done stew in it and it turns out fabulous.  Bolognese sauce, meat pie fillings, etc.   and all in a fraction of the time that it would normally take.   And it keeps your food warm for up to 24 hours.   It does much more than pressure cook as well.   I have a lot of exploring to do with it yet, but I think this has become my newest favourite kitchen tool.

Marks and Spencers nighties.   I only wear Marks and Spencers nighties.  I like their styles and I like their fabrics and I love the comfort of them.  I love wearing nighties  and would wear one all day if I could get away with it.   But I know that the day I decided to do just that I will get all kinds of company and so I don't.   Just in case.

This has always been one of my favourite Disney films.  I fell in love with it as a child.  I love the classical music and the way they have managed to portray it visually.   I am torn between the dancing toadstools and the dancing hippos as being my favourite bits.   I also love the part where the seasons are portrayed and flow right into one another. (Not sure I am explaining that correctly.)  It is a tiny bit boring at the beginning, but once you get past that bit, I find it gets amazingly entertaining.  Visual.  Sensual (but not in that way if you know what I mean)  It fires my imaginations.

Ahhh  . . .  to be eighteen again and be able to rock this hairstyle.  I love braids.

Pigs.   Oink.  Oink.  Especially baby pigs and pot belly pigs.   Pigs are very intelligent and are actually not dirty.  They are as dirty as their owners keep them.   When we went to Jimmy's farm a few years back there was no smell and the pigs were very clean and had lots of space to roam in.  Its when you keep them all penned up in small enclosures they get dirty and smelly, but I am thinking that is the same with anything.  It would be the same with us if they kept fifty of us in a small space with nowhere to do our business but the floor.  I reckon after a time we would be stinking and filthy also.

Boiled sweet tins.   I love them.  They come in so handy for holding pins and such.  Buttons.  Snaps.   Little bits of this and little bits of that.

Vintage story book illustrations.   When my children were growing up we had a whole bookcase of childrens books and some of them very unsual ones.  I wish I still had them.

Fairies and gnomes and toadstools and flowers and dancing ladybirds . . . .  and shamrocks . .

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy  . . .  I hit the jackpot here!

A thought to carry with you through today  . . .

Baking in The English Kitchen today  . . .  Cherry Granola Breakfast Buns.  Seriously tasty!

Have a wonderful Thursday.  We will be busy finishing off the spare bedroom today, getting it ready for all the company over the coming months.  I want to do it and get it done before Todd starts his radiation therapy.  Then I have a special project I am working heavily on and will reveal before too much longer.   Til tomorrow, don't forget!

  1. Good morning Marie. I love ladybirds but we get orange ones here which are a pest. I love broaches too. I wore that treble clef all around England and Europe. I love my memories of our day in Chester Cathedral.

Best wishes for the room and I hope you are well pleased with the results.

God bless you and keep you.

  2. I wish I could do the rainbow-hued hair, but it's not allowed at my workplace. Someday when I retire, then! ;)

    Enjoy your day, Marie. ♥

  3. Here I am again, just left a comment on yesterday's.......it never fails to surprise me how alike you and I are...all the things you like I like....
I especially love our ladybirds...much nicer name than ladybugs don't you agree. Hope that you are not doing to much getting things tidied up....When does Todds treatment start ? I do pray that things will go well. Like you I am a wee bit concerned that the driving to and from will be just to much...but there's nothing we can do but know that the Lord will provide the answer....take care, don't be working to,hard !!!

  6. Your wonderful creative, talented personality comes out in your favoirte things. Lady bugs, teapots and polka dots are all fun. I liked the colorful hair; I wouldn't be brave enough to do that. The fact is I don't have a lot of hair and I often wear a wiglet. I'm old so I don't care if people know. Teddy bears are one of my favorites too. I love that you have made some.
Your food choices are good, also. I love bacon. We bought a pressure cooker this year too and love it.
Loved all of this one; you have such fun posts to read! Blessings, love and hugs!
