My Friday Finds . . .

A few of the things  I find each week that pique my interest, bring me joy, inspire me to learn, create, do, become, inspire memories . . . maybe they will do the same for you!

The source is not available for this cute Christmas Ornament.  Isn't it cute?  I love it. Looks like it is a layered collage created with rubber stamps and paper card, laid out on a round cutout and topped with a plastic half ball.  Cut and looks very easy to do. Now to source the materials!

Baseret.  A variation on that same theme.

The Linen Garden.  Some inspiration. Isn't it beautiful?  I think so.

The French Bedroom Company. French Bed Linens. Oh to have such a budget that would run to these  . . .

Common Ground.  A bit of decorating for spring/summer inspiration.  Beautiful.

Stacey Manser Knight.  Muddy Jugs.  Handcrafted pottery jugs.  I love them!   There are quite a few different ones, each one beautiful and unique. Kind of like us.

Farmer's Attic on Etsy.  Friendship is a Sheltering tree counted cross stitch pattern.  I love LOVE this shop.

Lakeland Blog.  Mary Berry's Orange Drizzle Cake.

When I was a little girl, four years old, my Aunt Freda had one of these that her husband had given her in a blue dress.  I love LOVED this doll.  I would look at it every day. We were staying with our grandparents in Lawrencetown, NS while my father was out West waiting for a house to given to us to live in.  We had just come back from Germany. Occasionally my Aunt would let me hold it.  When we finally left to go out West to live, my dear sweet Aunt gave me the doll to take with me.

M Bakes.  Overnight Cinnamon Buns.  These look yummy.

Jenny Bell.  Mugs and Coasters.  I am in love with this foxglove mug.

DIY: Chandelier made from 1 hula hoop (spray painted) + 2 strings of icicle lights and black electrical tape = magnificent chandelier… Awesome! great idea for an outdoor party!

No source, but someone has taken some old window panes painted them, added window boxes, hung them with chains and planted them with flowers.  Beautiful idea!

Betty Pepper.  Living on the Edge. Now that's interesting.

Maria Louise Design.  Simple farmhouse window treatment.

A little something to make you smile  . . .

And finally  . . .  Book art.  Seen on Paper Artsy.

And those are my finds for this week.

A thought to carry with you  . . .

I tried a new recipe for Bran Muffins yesterday that turned out quite tasty, but very un-muffinlike and by the time I had done those the light was against me, so nothing new in the kitchen today, but I thought you might like to revisit my complete tutorial for making Classic English Scones.  Yummy.

I have suggested to my children that they postpone their trip until a safer date. I read on the Air Canada website that you can change your flight dates without a penalty.  I just think better safe than sorry.  My daughter already has a cold and when she does get one it always goes to her lungs and bronchitis. I doubt at the moment, they would let her on an airplane.

Here in the UK we are self-quarantining at the moment. Our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) has cancelled all church services, public meetings, get-togethers, etc. until further notice througout the world.  That doesn't mean we can't keep busy and occupied at home!  Thank goodness for the internet and the ability we have to stay in touch this way.  Alone doesn't have to be alone anymore.  If you know someone who is on their own and who doesn't have internet, pick up the telephone just to stay in touch and say hello, so they know they are not forgotten. Stay safe everyone, keep vigilant about washing your hands and don't forget!

  1. Hi, Marie! So nice to land here, and that you've got the fun of Friday going--"business as usual"! And we need that "little extra" of delights just now... What a time it's been lately, huh?! Our country is on lock down here after today, for the next two weeks. TJ will be working home until further notice. We are hole-ing up at home for a bit. We stocked up on extras at the supermarket yesterday. What a time this is! Our church services and other extra happenings there during the week are cancelled. We have our big 20th wedding anniversary next week... but plans for going out are on hold. Keeping calm and carrying on, right...and keeping well in the meantime! Oh, yes--thank goodness for the internet to keep us all in touch! Thinking of you both there, and praying you keep well and safe... LOVE YOU BOTH!! ((BIG HUGS))

  4. Our church has given people the option whether to go or not as they choose. I'm thinking many will stay home. I am. Stores are going crazy with people stocking up. I'm tuning it all over to "God, the One who can take care of the impossible.

  5. So sad the virus has interfered with your children's visit. I'm sure you're all disappointed. It's a brave new world out there. Even our libraries are closing for three weeks. I had my appointment with the cardiologist this morning. The ecocardiogram and ECG showed no abnormalities which was good news. But I'm currently wearing a heart monitor for 48 hours and I'm scheduled to have a nuclear stress test. Not looking forward to that. It's a five hour procedure and they recommend you bring a packed lunch. It won't be any picnic, though. Oh, well. We will cope or even rise above reality as Susan would say. Keep safe, my friend. Stay healthy. Hugs, Elaine

Your comments mean the world to me, and while I may not be able to address each one individually, each one is important to me and each one counts. Thanks so much!
