Something for Sunday . . .

I hardly ever have enough time these days to do a proper post on Sunday mornings, so I am just going to post a picture, and then you can tell me what it makes you feel or think in the comments.  I will too.

  1. When I was a child and before my mother went back to work, I was my mothr's shadow in the kitchen. So long as I stayed out of her way I was free to watch her as she cooked and baked. She used to let me have her old magazines also which I dutifully clipped recipes from. I guess I was always a foodie! Love my mom so much and I miss her every minute of every day.

  2. Missing my own sweet momma. I was never keen to bake, but loved having a chance to lick the beaters!

    1. Mom only ever very rarely let us lick the beaters unless we were on our own. With only two beaters and three children it would not have been fair, and my mom was always fair! xoxo

  4. I'm a child of the fifties, and this reminds me of watching my mother make chocolate chip cookies in her big yellow pyrex bowl. I would wait to eat whatever was left in the bowl...or lick the beaters. She made the best cookies! I have that yellow bowl and think of her whenever I use it.

  5. What an endearing photo that brought back some sweet memories of my own Mom and me in the kitchen. She loved to make cookies and she was the perfect grandmother with the cookie jar always full of cookies for her grandchildren. She loved to cook and I have fond memories of watching her.
    Sending happy thoughts and hugs!

  6. My mother started working full-time when my twin brother and I were 8 and my sister 11. She would often come home at noon and put a roast in the oven, prep the veggies and decide on dessert. She would leave detailed written instructions on what we should do after school so that when my parents came home there was a nice meal ready. Woe betide the child who forget it was their turn to set the table, lol. This didn't happen every day but often enough so that I learned how to time things so everything was ready for the table at the same time. Sure miss my mom, too. Hugs, Elaine

    1. How wonderful Elaine. I had no idea you were a twin. Twins fascinate me. When my mother went to work she did the same with me, left me detailed instructions on what to do. Once I was old enough then I didn't need them anymore. I guess it was good training. I think we will always miss our mums. xoxo
