Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

I did not get to church yesterday morning, mostly because I had been awake all Saturday night. I think it was 4:30 before I got to sleep.  I was worried that I wouldn't wake up in time to get ready and so ended up not sleeping at all. I was able to watch it online however, so that was good. How blessed are we to be able to do such things in real time.

Surprise, I did not sleep all night last night either.  I think I fell asleep around 3:30 or so, only to wake up at 6:30. Now you know why I don't like the time change. It really messes me up big time.

Although not sleeping, either night, I was still comfortable and warm and cozy.  I am grateful for a comfortable place to lay my head. So many don't have what I have. I will never take it for granted.

For loved ones and friends.  Where would I be without the.  They mean the world to me.

This is so true, and I am so grateful to know the difference. I would add to that Joy, it is eternal and comes from eternal things.  I've got sunshine  . . .  on a cloudy day.

I got to facetime with my two older sons at the weekend, and five of my grandsons. Doug and his boys on Saturday and Anthony and his boys last night. It was really nice. Time spent with family is always lovely.

Forget me nots.  They are one of the smallest flowers but they are one of the prettiest flowers. I love them.

A good book to read.  I am almost finished my fourth one of the year.  Yay me.  I have finally been able to find books that I want to read and don't struggle to finish!

Slow days.  I predict another one of those today. In fact I am feeling very tired and the moment and just might go and try to sleep.

Forgive me.

A thought to carry with you . . .

chunky chicken gravy

In the kitchen today, Chunky Chicken Gravy.  This was simple and delicious. I hope you will take a peek. It's also very adaptable, quick and easy to make.

I hope that you have a beautiful day. I am really sorry that I am so tired this morning. Hopefully tonight I will have a much better sleep. Whatever you get up to be safe, don't forget!

  1. Hope you were able to get some sleep, Marie. I, too, know what it is like to have a sleepless night so I can sympathize. Sometimes we all need a quiet day. Love and hugs, Elsine

  3. I'm sure you will sleep tonight, time change always affects me the same way. It is a sunny day, with temperatures maybe reaching double digits today. The snow is going down quickly. We had a pair of robins hopping around on the driveway and the small patches of grass under the trees. You could hear all the birds chirping this morning. Spring is coming.

    1. It did take me a couple of hours to finally fall asleep last night Linda, but eventually I did and then slept the night through! Not a lot of snow left here and the birds are singing! xoxo

  5. We do not change our clocks (you should try it ) and Sunday I was glad. 😊 We have been doing it several years now and it gets easier. The first year or two it really messed with my mind! We are retired so there aren't too many adjustments. "They" say it actually affects one's health. Case in point...look at the stress it has caused you. I hope you get a good night's sleep. 😴 Elaine

    1. I would if only the rest of my family and church, etc. would do the same. Thanks Elaine! xoxo
