My Favourite Things . . .

A few of the things which catch my eye, inspire me, pluck at my heart strings, make me smile, or that I just enjoy.  Maybe they will do the same for you.

Vintage Illustrations.  Botanical style, especially if it is fashions, etc.  These things are lovely framed and hung up. Especially in a bedroom.

Ballerinas are particularly nice in a little girl's room . . .

Time spent with friends.  Its never wasted.  I've always been a person who enjoys her friends.  I don't have a lot of close friends, but when I do make a close friend, it is for life.

Watching others have fun . . . there is nothing like sharing in the joy of others to bring a spark into your own life.

There was a knock on the door yesterday and when Todd answered it, the lad from next door was there with some flowers for me as a thankyou for all that I do for him and his mum.  I don't really think that I do that much, but it is nice to be appreciated, and the flowers are beautiful.  Unexpected gifts.  Always nice.  Being appreciated, even nicer.

Wainscotting of any kind.  In the house that my ex and I built I had beaded board wainscotting in my dining room.  Oh but that was a lovely house.  I wish I had photos of it  . . .

Plate Racks.  I had one in my kitchen in that same house.  Oh, it was lovely  . . .

Ginger cats . . .  when Todd and I first got married, he got me a little ginger kitten.  I called him Dandy, short for Dandelion.  I know, crazy . . .  he was lovely however.

Turning weeds into wishes . . .  when you look at this  . . .  it is a beautiful thing n'est ce pas?  Granted not when your lawn is full of them, but individually each one is a work of perfect art.

Outlander  . . .  I never get tired of it.  Much like Downton Abby, Call The Midwife, The Waltons, Little House . . . Gilmore Girls.  I could watch these shows over and over again.

Lindt Gold Bunny's . . .  dare I?  It bears thinking about.  Maybe an eensie, weensie tiny one.

Have you ever put your ear to one and listened  . . .  or put a penny on one to see if it got squashed . . . I have happy memories of a train track that ran behind our first house in Gimli, Manitoba when I was a child.  There was a wire fence that separated the back yard from the tracks.  I remember climbing on the fench to wave at the Engineer when it went past.  He always waved back, and sometimes he would toot his whistle.

Pussy Willows, or Catkins as they are also called  . . .

Les Miserables.  One of my favourite musicals.  We saw it live in the West End when we lived down South at a Saturday Matinee.  It was fabulous.  A real once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London . . .  so much to see and do.  I have only ever been there once, but I loved it . . .

One of my favourite displays was the antique tin box display.  I have always loved tin boxes  . . . decorative tins.

I coveted them all . . .

I also loved the fashions through the years  . . .

This antique wooden doll was a particular treasure that I adored.  I do so love dolls  . . .

Naturally coloured Easter Eggs . . . I think they are so pretty.  Mind you, when I was a girl my mom would colour them with our crayons while we were asleep. My favourites were the ones she coloured all stripey using all the colours  . . . miss my mom . . .  all day, every day  . . .

Hot Cross Buns  . . .  we only ever have them at Easter.  I usually make my own, but this year I dare not as my oven is not working properly and they would probably be ruined.  We shall have to buy some to enjoy.  M&S have the best.

Words  . . .  on their own or strung together.  I love words.  I love stringing them together.  I love using them.  I love discovering new words and their meanings.  I just love words.

The smell of burnt toast  . . .  not the taste, but the smell . . .

Roast Chicken in any way shape or form  . . . .  its so, so, so good.

And with that I best be leaving you with a thought for the day  . . .

Baked Mushroom Rice

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  Baked Mushroom Rice.  This was delicious.

Hope you have a beautiful day.  Love and be loved! Don't forget!

    1. Ahh, I love blue eggs. I am not sure if they taste any different, but they sure are pretty! We watched the Les Mis adaptation on the television and it was very good. I hope you enjoy it! I used to have a squashed penny that had the Lords prayer on it. I do have very nice neighbours. I have been lucky on both sides of us! xoxo

  2. Peanut butter bread baking right now
Used buttermilk and sure it will be just as good! Wonder if a banana added with less milk would work? Might try next loaf, as hubby is a peanut butter addict!! Go through so many jars; glad when we can get buy-one-get-one-free. Sweet boy next door and giving you flowers. Hope the rest of our Holy Thursday was good for you. Mary in GA

    1. I hope you enjoy it Mary! I have never tried using banana in this, or less milk. I always thought that banana was a substitute for the fat in a recipe. I coudl be wrong though and often am! Happy Easter Mary! xoxo

  3. Another wonderful Favorite Things post! I loved it. I took ballet lessons as a child and advanced to toe shoes. I loved those pictures and they would be perfect in a girl's om.
I do love friends and like you I don't have many that are close friends but the ones I do are forever ones. I have a couple of High School friends that we have been close for around 60 years. I love getting with them.
Your gift of flowers are lovely.
Love the decor photos and especially like the Plate Racks.
Cat pictures bring back sweet memories of a cat we had for 18 years, named Willie.
I love Chocolate and Easter Chocolate is a favorite. Pussy Willows are another favorite. I haven't seen any for a while.
I love fashion too and dolls as you know.
Yes, brunt toast does have a unique smell. I love toast even when it is a touch burned.
I'm going to bake a chicken this week. I have a new pan to try.
Thanks for sharing all of this one.
    Blessings and hugs!
