My Friday Finds . . .

A few of the things  I find each week that pique my interest, bring me joy, inspire me to learn, create, do, become . . . Maybe they will do the same for you!

Shabby Art Boutique.  Make your own Shabby Village DIY. Cute!  Wouldn't a set of these done up for Christmas be cute?

I found this and was intrigued, but cannot find the source. It looks like they have done lettering in a running stitch on a white background with red embroidery floss and then gone over it again in an overlapping weave with white. Kind of like a candycane stitch.

From Turkey Feathers.  Cute dish towel borders.  Love these!

Feeling Stitchy.  A Gadget Cosy.  So pretty.

Meet Me At Mikes.  World's Easiest Tea Cosy. Complete tutorial.  Free.

Anyone Can Quilt.  Pot holders and tea towels.  Love the fabrics. Just eye candy, but the whole blog is eye candy.  Love it.

Granny Square Hearts. Lanukas.  It is a japenese crochet symbol pattern, but they are so easy to follow.  I love them more than hand written patterns.

By the Bay Needleworks.  I love this simple brooch.

Eye Candy from Little Herb Bouquet.  People are so talented!  Follow her on Instagram.  Totally charming.

Wool and Chocolate.  A sock darning tutorial. So worth it if you have lovely wool socks.

Its in some kind of foreign language, but I love this and it looks easy.  Wish I could figure it out.  From Ge Ce.  I love these kind of old fashioned baby things . . .

Ravelry, not free, but cute, cute, cute and not expensive either.

Again from Ravelry, this one is free.  Tiny window cat.  What a cute Christmas Ornament it would be.

Puff Stitch Petals Cardigan.  Love this. From Lakshmi Ravi Narayan.

Stori be Art.  Video tutorial on using alcohol to make dandelions.  Love this.  Learned something new. Fascinating.

Painting Loose in water colour.  7 Tried and True Tips.  From Artists Network.

Eye candy from Beedee Babee.  Love Love her work.

Pin Cushion Mice, free pdf from Bustle and Sew.  Cute!

Ric Rac, Darla and Bean.  Seriously cute. You can follow her on Instagram also.

Skinny Taste.  Chunky Beef, Cabbage and Tomato Soup.  Looks mighty tasty.

Notey.  20 Ideas for bullet journal pages.

And those are my finds for this week.  I hope there is something  here which twigged your interest!

Note - Dishwasher fixed and appears to be working.  I have done two loads, one empty and one full and so far so good.  Apparently something wasn't tightened up enough and some water got into someplace it shouldn't have, so all fixed now.  YAY!

My oldest daughter has been put on anti-anxiety medication. Not sure how I feel about that.  A bit scared about it, as I am not sure she exactly needed it.  I hope it helps instead of making things worse.  She tends to magnify things in her mind, just a part of her disability . . . she always has done. She obsesses on things.  Not sure this was the right route for the Doctor to take.  And I am not sure that she should have gone to the Doctor on this all on her own without a responsible adult to go with her.  She had been stressing because she was off one day last week from work due to a bad cold and she thought her boss was going to give her a hard time about it.  There is nothing I can do about those kinds of things living all the way over here, but if I lived there I would have gone into work with her and explained to the boss that she had been really sick. She doesn't seem to have anyone who is willing to speak up for her and I am not sure why that is. Its worrisome.

A thought to carry with you . . .

BOOK OF MORMON CORNER - Today's reading - Mosiah 3:1-18
Question What have you learnt from the reading today? What messages of hope do you see in these verses about Jesus Christ's Atonement?

My thoughtsJesus suffered. Not just on the cross. Not just in Gethsemane. He suffered throughout His life. Because of the circumstances of His birth, from birth He would have known shame, humiliation and persecution, as well as the hardships listed in these verses hunger, thirst, fatigue, pain, temptation. Its easy to think that because He was God's Son He was spared these things. But He wasn't. He felt it even more than man could suffer. Why do I find hope in these things? Because I know He can and will help me when I suffer, and that ultimately He HAS overcome it all. Which means that I can hope to overcome and enjoy better things to come.  There is nothing that I can feel or face, or experience that he cannot understand, or help me through.
Tomorrow's Reading (Day 98) - Mosiah 3:19-4:3
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? In what ways does the Holy Spirit bring us to Christ?

In the English Kitchen today  . . .  Meat Loaf Subs.  This be diner food, served with oven chips and coleslaw.
Have a wonderful Friday, it is miserable, wet and cold here today.  Blah weather!  But you got to take the bad with the good.  Don't forget!

  1. Hi Marie, lovely finds. Some people are so talented!

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, it's such a worry. My daughter who has two chronic illnesses has also been put on anti depressants. Anxiety is a symptom of her illnesses but sometimes I think GPs are quite happy to give these pills out like sweets. I'm lucky though cos I go with my daughter for her hospital appointments. You're right, Eileen definitely needs more support in that area.

Supposed to be going to Llandudno today but the weather looks awful. We'll see! Lot's of love xxx

    1. The weather is the pits today Kate! Really lousy. I think Llandudno would be a bust. The drug they have put her on is called Effexor and I don't like what I am reading about it. I remember being given an anti-depressant once called Prozac, I took only one tablet and I had to call my mom to come and sit with me as I thought I was going to lose my mind. I did not like the way it made me feel at all. Needless to say I never took another one! Love and hugs, xoxo

  2. I like the tea towel and pot holders but I would only hang them up for show bc they're too pretty. Lol.

My daughter had clothes like that when she was a baby. Both my kids had alot of knitted sweaters. I still have a few things I kept.

My Mom made me a light purple vest just like that, even the same sleeves, only not button down. I use to wear all colors of turtlenecks with them. Someday I have to look and see what I kept. That's why I don't like to give my clothes away bc then I wish I kept them.

    That soup looks good Marie!
So glad your dishwasher is finally fixed. Yay!
One thing I can't do is draw very good. My grands can though.

I don't like taking any kind of medicine either! It's hard when your so far away, and you want to do more but you feel helpless, and nobody is helping her out like they should!

I heard ice cream is good for anxiety and also breathing exercises. I believe in eating healthy and exercising and not taking all kinds of meds.

I took the dog out about 1:30 am and it was freezing out! The opening on his leed was frozen!
    Love and big hugs!xo

  3. Hi, Marie--Happy Friday! LOVE that candy cane stitching... and that granny square tea cozt--with POM POMS!! That little felt brooch is great for lots of ideas... How cute are those embroidery/felt veggie hoops! I don't know how folks come up with these things?! Bookmarking the darning tips, as I really hope this will be the year I finally grasp the knitting of socks! LOVE the window kitty. I wonder what Luna would think of a knitted kitty companion for her window? ;) Those felt, bead & bauble birdies are exquisite and adorable at the same time--wow! HOORAY for fixed dishwasher!! Hubby here would love that meatloaf sub and all the trimmings...mmm... So sorry your Eileen is having a difficult time--hoping and praying she'll have some relief from the anxiety. Not sure medication is the right route either...hhhmmm... Let us know how she gets on. Be taking good care there, and keep cozy... We're waiting on some snow again this weekend--nothing new... haha! 8. Oh dear Marie, I'm sorry to read that about Eileen like you I wish she had someone to go with her...or even that perhaps she knew herself she should have someone with her. I always go with Mary just in case Drs ask her about something she can't remember or indeed Dr says something that she forgets or thinks it's different from what the Dr has actually said.....but it's Mary herself who asks me to go in with her. I will keep Eileen in my prayers. Is she not doing her ....games......now at competition level ? What about her husband ? No doubt he is like most men never notices anything......love your finds today love the wee mouse, and the houses. Would be ideal to make these things for Christmas ...although the very thought of Xmas has me diving for the escape signs !!

    1. I hate to sY it Sybil, but Eileen is the more intelligent of the two of them. I think Eileen puts on a big show of being independent and resents it when people try to help. She takes is as an insult upon her abilities, so I am afraid she has burnt a few bridges. Thank you for your prayers. I know prayers help. She is no longer competing at a competition level I’m afraid. Oh gosh, like you I think Christmas! Buts it’s too soon, or is it? Xoxo

  9. Hi Marie~

Of course your Friday Finds are always my favorite part of Friday! People are so talented, and have such great ideas! I love all the cute felt projects, especially the cute little bird, so darling! And that cute little pin cushion mouse...oh my goodness. I am truly going to take some time to play around with watercolor, it is so beautiful. That cat looks so lifelike, yet so flowing and gorgeous! Last year I made some cute little tie-dyed shirts with my grands, and we used alcohol to make interesting designs - I can totally see how you could make dandelions with alcohol!

I'm going to be making some Caraway Rye bread today, that soup would be so perfect with it! Don't you think that sometimes the easiest recipes are the best? I love soup and bread.

Oh Marie, I can completely feel your concern with your daughter. Anti-depressants are nothing to play with, they can be kind of scary. I'm hoping that her Dr. is keeping a close eye on her. I wish I knew the answer as to why no one will speak up for those who struggle. My thoughts are that they just don't know when to step in, or they just don't want to get involved. I think it's so sad, sometimes as a parent all we can do is pray for them to find their way. My son has just been put on anti-depressants as well. He is still struggling over the death of his brother-in-law/best friend. He still feels so guilty, and there is no talking him out of it. I guess it will just take time, but it is devastating for his sweet wife and for Bob and I. He has missed so much work, and at times, refuses to get out of bed...very scary stuff. I am hoping the medication works for him. And, of course, I will keep praying . . . for him and Eileen.

Knowing that, Christ, overcame ALL brings me a lot of hope. I stumble and fall in so many areas of my life, and I have times when I'm pretty convinced that no one understands...accept for Christ...He understands because he has been there, He is my hope. I love that you post your, Book of Mormon Corner, it has sure helped me stay on track...thank you.

Much love to you and Todd. You are always in my prayers.

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

    1. Thanks very much for your prayers for Eileen Barb, and I will keep your son in my prayers also. I am so sorry he is going through this. ((((hugs)))) My daughter because of her disability magnifies things in her mind and obsesses on them, and they she can get very distraught and it causes her not to be able to sleep and all sorts. I think she would really benefit from having someone to talk to about these things that she could trust, rather than pills, but I am too far away. I didn't get my BOM Corner done today as I ran out of time, but it will be back on Monday. We got ourselves another book which we are using daily called The Book of Mormon Family Reader and we are enjoying it also. Five minutes a day and we are loving the interaction with each other and sharing our thoughts. Love to you and Bob. Big hugs too. Hope you're feeling a lot better now! xoxo

Your comments mean the world to me, and while I may not be able to address each one individually, each one is important to me and each one counts. Thanks so much!
