OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ...

Its a bit chilly at 5*C/41*F. I went out to check my mail not long after I got out of my shower. The sun was just coming up. No frost but brrrr, it was cold.  It's not supposed to rain today, however. So that's good.

I AM THINKING ...

This week I have gotten three emails from a guy purporting to be Author J.M. Dalgliesh, one from a lady purporting to be an editor from Harper Collins, and another from some company in Shaghai that says someone is trying to register my domain name for the English Kitchen. They must think that people are incredibly stupid. Not falling for any of that.

I AM ALSO THINKING ...

My cleaners are coming today. I really love how fresh my house smells after they have been here and how tidy it is. I love cleaning day.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR ...

These almost six years I have had to be able to foster relationships back here in Canada. Coming back was the best decision that I could have made. I have had some great times with my father. I have been able to be here for my daughter in a way I couldn't have otherwise. I have my sister as a best friend (she always was anyways). I've been able to spend time with my brother and parts of his family. My two oldest sons, five of my grandchildren. What a blessing these years have been for me.

I AM ALSO GRATEFUL FOR ...

My faith which has helped to sustain me through all of the changes and upheaval. Where would I be without it, and of course, all of YOUR love and support. When you think about it all, I have been incredibly blessed.

IN THE KITCHEN ...

I made this phenomenal Cheddar, Garlic & Potato Soup yesterday.  It was really delicious and went together very quickly.  With these chillier days, soup weather is upon us!

ON MY "TO COOK" LIST ...

I've always wanted to try these. I have made the lunch lady brownies before and they were really good. I am thinking these must be as well!

THIS I BELIEVE ...

A life focused on things like this rather than what the world would have us focus on is a much better life to be living. These days, there is not much in the world that isn't a lie.

Fresh apple cider. You can get it at all the local farm markets in the fall. It's gorgeous.

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO ...

That's one thing I miss from the U.K. Conker Battles. In the autumn children would gather the fallen nuts from the Horse Chestnut trees and have battles with them. The chestnuts are called conkers and they would thread these onto strings and then  take turns striking each other's in an attempt to break the others nut.  Whoever breaks wins.
