My Favorite Things . . .

These are some of the things in life that I enjoy and which make me happy, inspire me, or put a smile on my face. Maybe some of them are yours too.  Lets share!

Queen Anne's Lace.  I love this simple wild flower.  It is actually not natural to North America from what I have read and can be quite invasive.  I do think it is very pretty though.

Vanilla Ice Cream.  Of all the ice cream flavors, Vanilla is my favorite and I prefer hard ice cream over soft. I do love a sugar cone as well.

Sunflowers.  They follow the sun.  They are so bright and cheerful as well. I went through a stage where I had sunflower everything in my home.  I don't follow a theme any longer in my decor. My sister and I were just talking about this the other day.  At one time we were hugely interested in decorating our houses. Now we just like what we like and that's that.

Merry Go Round's, Carousel's.  I love them, but I cannot go on one. I get sick.  I get sick on a swing.  Its awful. Motion Sickness has to do with your inner ear.

Misty mornings. Mom always said that a misty morning meant we were in for a beautiful day!

Wrendale designs.  I especially love the British robin one.

Climbing roses . . .  we had climbing roses around our door at the cottage in Brenchley. So beautiful.

Old wooden rocking chairs  . . .

Unusual door knockers  . . .

Fresh crusty baguettes.  I loved when we were in France, we could nip to a bakery early in the morning and pick up fresh bread for the day.  If you didn't go early you didn't get any, as it would all be gone before nine.

Lighthouses  . . . they come in many shapes and sizes.

Ivy covered walls.  I love them. Ivy can be very damaging however, and our  mom always said it was bad luck to have it in a house. Not sure where she got that from, but she was very superstitious and would never have it in the house.

Bees.  The friends to our planet. We would not survive without them.  I especially love the fat and fuzzy bumble bees.

French Crullers, or as my father calls them, Tractor Tires.

Fresh beans  . . .  tis the season  . . .

And those are my favorite things for this week.  I hope that some of them were some of yours as well!

A thought to carry with you . . .

Salted Caramel Chocolate Sauce

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  Salted Caramel Chocolate Sauce.  I enjoyed some of this spooned over my favorite vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with roasted Spanish Peanuts, for a real taste treat!

Its warm and humid here this morning.  Very cloudy. I think we are in for some heavy rain later today.  Whatever you get up to today, I hope you have a beautiful day!  Don't forget!

  1. We had about 60 mm of rain yesterday, and a bit more coming today. Stay dry on this wet Thursday.

  2. Decorating...ha, as I have aged, certainly has taken a back seat. However, I still admire those who are so good at it!! But it can take a big of money to do so. Yep, we like what we like...I agree.
