"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

We really enjoyed watching a Cat Bird go to town in the bird bath on my sister's desk last evening. It was going right to town. Splishing and splashing. I have not seen a sight like that since I left the U.K. We were all mesmerized by it's antics. I have never seen a cat bird before and there were two of them. I told Cindy, chances are there is a next nearby.

Good neighbors. I have such lovely neighbors. I am blessed. On Saturday I noticed that something had broken my new bird feeder. My next door neighbor's husband fixed it for me. I was so grateful for that. I did try to fix it myself, but I don't really have the proper tools. He saw me struggling and then did it for me. It is back in operation! I was so appreciative!
Good neighbors make a huge different in the quality of your life. Especially when you live in a community as small as this one.

Getting to go to church on Sundays. Fellowshipping with the Saints, partaking of the sacrament, the talks, the hymns, the classes after the sacrament meeting. It's all very good. It is the perfect beginning or ending to my week, depending on however which way you choose to look at it. I always feel better for going.

I know I am in the minority but I just love seeing all the dandelions blooming at the moment. Did you know a single dandelion flower has between 100 and 300 tiny petals? Hats off to whoever decided to count them!
I am loving seeing all of the gardens coming to life again. It won't be long now before the lilacs start to bloom. The trees are all leafing out. Its just a gorgeous, gorgeous time of year.
I am so grateful that I am able to be here for Eileen. We still haven't heard from the specialists, etc. It takes so darn long for anything to happen. She said to me the other day, I am scared it is growing. I said we just need to have faith that it isn't and trust in the Lord. Hopefully she will hear something soon. It is difficult enough for someone who doesn't have learning difficulties to cope with, but everything is magnified in her mind so I cannot imagine what she is feeling at the moment. I am just trying my best to help keep her occupied and in a positive frame of mind. So far so good. I am grateful to be able to do so.

Good books. Good music. Good things to watch on the television. Positive, reaffirming, boosting. Life enriching. Garbage in, garbage out. I am grateful for the opportunity I have each day to make wise choices as to what I decide to feed my soul with.

Facetimes with my good friend Tina. I am so grateful for modern technology and the way it affords us the opportunity to stay in such close touch with each other. We are so very blessed. In years past you could wait months and months to hear from a loved one, depending on how far away from you they lived. Now, the contact is instantaneous. I am grateful for that!

I give thanks each day for my little home and the comfort it brings to not only myself, but my daughter now. I was so lucky to get it when I did. It was truly a gift from God. I love it. It is my happy place.

Enough. I have enough. I lack nothing. I have enough for myself and then some . . . enough to share with those around me and I feel pretty blessed to be able to do so. I am so very grateful for God's bounty in my life. I hope that I am taking good care of it all.
I am living a life of abundance. I am blessed beyond measure. I am grateful for a heart that sees these blessings.
A thought to carry with you . . .

New in the Kitchen today . . . Easy Lemonade Lazy Cake. A vintage recipe from a Bakeoff cookbook. This is a beautiful cake. I have frosted it with a lemon buttercream, but there is the option of having a grilled coconut-pecan topping or even just leaving it plain. It would go wonderfully plain with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream. One of the best cakes I have ever baked.
I hope you have a lovely Monday and that the week ahead is filled with a multitude of blessings for you. Whatever you get up to, don't forget!
