"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Eileen had a lovely weekend away and arrived home safe and sound mid-afternoon yesterday. She won herself a cutting board and set of steak knives at the silent auction so she was really pleased about that. Her room mate had an anxiety attack so she spent most of the time in the room. Eileen stayed with her for a bit, but did participate in all of the activities, which is good. She was tired last night, but quite happy and content. It's good to have her back.
I am going to have to call the Doctor's office today to see what's up, as she has still not heard anything from the specialist.

The Relief Society lesson yesterday was based on Elder Gong's talk from the last conference, No One Walks Alone. My friend Christine teaches the lessons and she had contacted me on Saturday to see if I would share my thoughts on how reading the scriptures helped me to walk with the Savior. I was happy to do so. As you know I love the Scriptures and I love the Savior.
I shared how the scriptures have been adding meaning to my life and helping me since I was a child. How when I was 13 I had memorized the 23rd Psalm for my Religion and Life badge and how that piece of scripture had helped me through the years, to know that the Lord was my Shepherd and Guide. Also my favorite Scripture Jeremiah 19:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." has also kept me going through many a trial Along with 2Nephi 2:11 about there being opposition in all things bringing righteousness to pass. Another great help through the years.
I shared how the scriptures have the capacity to reach out and touch you in the right way at the right time, just like magic. How you can read the same words a hundred times and then all of a sudden on the day you need something special, those words that didn't mean anything before go straight to your heart.
How, on the times over the past few years when I may have struggled to find the words to pray, or when the outside world seemed so heavy and loud that I struggled to hear His voice. I was able to go to the Scriptures, which never failed to speak to me, and in just the way I needed to hear His voice. To calm me, carry and uplift me.
About how the scriptures help me to turn my eyes away from the world and it's troubles. Help to carry me through the wilderness to safety. Strengthen and support me.
I would not be without them in my life. When the world gets loud, the scriptures help to bring in that still small voice that gives me balance.

The lilacs across the way that are bring me joy with their beauty and their scent. I love the season of lilac-tide!
Also the apple blossoms. Our drive down to Parker's Cove on Saturday night, brought us all the way down the valley and so many of the orchards are in bloom now. So beautiful. Also the view of the bay when we got up to the Cove. So lovely. The joys of the season.

Listening to Music and the Spoken Word on Sunday afternoon. I could listen to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square any time. Their music is just so beautiful and uplifting. I love it. It is inspiring and so positive. Any chance I get to invite positivity into my life, I will take it.

Time spent with family. Shopping with Cindy. Picturesque drives. Family meals. Family times are the best of times and I am grateful to have them.
Last night Eileen and I watched a good movie on Living Scriptures called Love Kennedy. She really enjoyed it. I had seen it before and did not mind seeing it again. I knew she would enjoy it.
My life is a sweet combination of small and simple things which bring me joy, happiness and peace. I am blessed.
A thought to carry with you . . .

How nice Eileen had a lovely time away, and winning a prize too which she will be able to use in her own apartment. Hoping you find out something positive from the call to the doctor. Good job on sharing your experiences with your church. It is a damp start to Monday with fog, but hoping it improves as the day goes on. I'm sure you will both enjoy the day.
