My Friday Finds . . .

A few of the things I find each week that pique my interest and inspire me to want to do, create, become, etc. Maybe they will also inspire you!
From Alice and Lois.  DIY Indigo Marbelled Ornaments.  Very easy and very pretty.  Complete tutorial.

From The Soap Queen, a complete tutorial for making your own Rose Clay Face Mask. This could be a great gift for someone.

Feathering My Nest.  Make mittens from recycled sweaters. Plus there are free printable tags for gift giving.

Just Putzing.  DIY flavour infused olive oils.  So simple to make.

Lace Doily Pottery, from Victoria Mag. Very simple to do with air drying clay.  I have always, love, LOVED Victoria Magazine.

Homemade Cookie Butter.  Sign me up!   How very moreish, and simple to make. From A Beautiful Mess.  You will need a blender.

Make your own Sea Shell Candles.  I love these.  I need to find some sea shells! From Burkatron. (where do people get these names?) These are also a very simple make.

Mom Advice.  These easy to make Blanket Scarves would make wonderful gifts! No sewing involved.

Lila Griffith.  DIY Trinket Holders.  Also an easy make using air drying clay.

DIY Dog Treats.  All natural and only three ingredients. Pumpkin puree, peanut butter and flour. From Creek Line House.

Persia Lou.  DIY Customized mugs. A complete tutorial.

Up Root Kitchen . . .  DIY Hot Chocolate Mix.  Small jar. Individual ones.  How adorable! A five ounce spice jar does the trick.

While we are at it.  DIY Brownie Mix in a Jar. Who wouldn't love this! From Call Me Cupcake.

Spoon Fork Bacon.  Make your own extracts.  With printable labels. Wonderful!

The Sweetest Occasion.  Really simple to make wooden bead key chains.  Lovely.

Wit and Whistle.  A DIY Terrarium Kit.  Sweet!  Also a free printable included.

From Mom Spark, DIY Coffee (or Hot Chocolate) Stirring Spoons.  Simple.

Homemade Seasoning Salts. From te people at Bon Appetit!  There are three kinds.

Vikalpah. How to make your own oven mitts.

Mommy Suite. How to debug and open Pine Cones.   Its as simple as using vinegar and water and a low oven setting.

The Legend of the Candy Cane.  From Designs by Linda Nee on Etsy. Its not free, but its not expensive either.  What a super cute idea for a stocking stuffer if you use small candy canes and print these cards out smaller.

The Cake Mistress.  A gingerbread Christmas Tree Centre Piece for the table.  I have made one of these before. Tin cans come in very handy to hold everything in place while you are waiting for it to set up!

Repeat Crafter Me.  Future reference for Mia Suzan!  Isn't this the cutest little gingerbread girl dress!

Melted Snowman Cupcakes.  From Olive Magazine. The arms are mint sticks!  Aren't they cute?

Sugar Bee Crafts.  Chalk Embroidery Ornaments.  Sweet!

And those are my finds for this week.  Let the Christmas Crafting season begin!  I hope you found something useful in amongst this lot!

A thought to carry with you . . .

Its that simple.  You either take
what has been dealt to you and allow
it to make you a better person,
or you allow it to tear you down.

it belongs to you.

BOOK OF MORMON CORNER - Today's reading - 2 Nephi 1:1-12
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? What do you notice about the way Lehi teaches his family?
What I learnt - Lehi is teaching his children about the infinite goodness of God. He is helping them to remember Him, to keep in their remembrance His mercies despite their poor choices and their natural afflictions on their journey (the past). He tells them of the blessings they have received. And he shares the prophecies he receives. He teaches them the consequences of choosing iniquity in the promised land. And he teaches them the consequences of choosing righteousness in the promised land (the future).  I love how, from the beginning, Lehi has taught with authority, boldness and plainness. There are no wishy washy points. He is clear with his teachings and unashamedly so. He is not afraid to be rejected by man (or if he is, he allows himself to overcome that fear) and rather serves his God by teaching those truths with unwavering faith.
Tomorrow's Reading - Day 36 - 2 Nephi 1:13-29
Question - Why do you think we need to awake? What do you do when you feel you're in a spiritual slumber?
In The English Kitchen today  . . .  Cheesy Cornbread Turkey Pot Pie.  Delicious!  You will want to give this tasty dish a go!  You can also make it with leftover roast chicken.

Have a wonderful Friday.  Don't forget along your space of the day  . . .

  4. Oh my sweet Marie,
I do enjoy reading your thoughts on the scriptures. We are in our second time reading through since the first of October. We look forward to our 10 pages a day. I just find the Book of Mormon to be such a blessing in my life.
You had some great Friday Finds. Many of them look like some items for gifts that I could put together for neighbor and missionary families that we still see. I am going to look further into the details. I loved the recycled mittens; so creative. All of the different items in the jars for gifts were awesome.
Thank you for this one because I want to do some of them.
Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way!
