Wednesday Witterings . . .

A very busy day was had here yesterday.  Eileen ended up going to the weekly coffee morning with the CSS group down in Bridgetown. She had to be out of here for that fairly early which meant an early wake up for her.  They just go down to the main offices in Bridgetown and have a coffee morning where they play games, have snacks, coffee, etc. Tim was not at this one because he works on Tuesdays. So that was good.

My cleaners came later in the morning. One of them was having a bit of a drama with one of her children, but other than that they did their usual great job and my place was sparkling when they left. They missed seeing Eileen, but that was okay. She was thrilled when she got home and I told her she was missed.

Cinnamon kept them company the whole time, and as usual Nutmeg did not make an appearance until after they had gone.

After Eileen finished her coffee morning, she went shopping and then messaged me to say she was at Tim Hortons and did I want anything. I did not, but she had a nice visit there with her friends and then went to the Sally Ann shop and picked up a nice zippered hoodie in a beautiful burgundy color for only $2. I washed it for her when she got home.

We dined on baked potatoes topped with baked beans and cheese and salad and had some cut up melon for dessert and that was a day done and dusted.

And she has another busy day planned for today as well, with some kind of light therapy class this morning, again down in Bridgetown and then her last Iron infusion this afternoon, plus we are planning on meeting dad and Hazel at the Big Scoop for supper. Cindy is not going this week as she and Dan are going out tomorrow. Of course, our dining out all depends on how Eileen is feeling after her infusion. She is already planning on having spaghetti though, so we will probably end up going, no doubt.

There is some good news as far as apartments go. It looks like she is going to get that apartment which one of her friends is renting, just not sure exactly when, but probably more sooner than later.  Plus the girl is leaving a lot of her furniture and stuff behind so Eileen will be able to buy it from her. Plus I have extra things that I can give her, dish-wise, etc.  I had bought 12 place settings when I moved in here. I had big dreams of family get-togethers with all my kids, etc. but that only rarely if ever happens and I can buy in paper plates if and when it does.

I will miss her when she is gone, so I hope it doesn't happen too awfully soon. We have gotten ourselves into a rhythm here, which is quite nice. In any case, it is a ground floor apartment so I will be able to visit her frequently in any case, something which I was unable to do when she lived with Tim as their apartment was on the third floor.

She took great delight in telling me that Tim thinks he is going to get the new apartment, but he is not. I told her I was pretty sure he wouldn't as he already has an apartment and they will give it to her rather than him as she is considered unhoused.

Personally I think he has a lot of nerve thinking that he could get the new apartment after everything that has happened and the way he has behaved.

I was taken aback a few days ago when I received the most revolting comment on a post on my food blog. I won't share it with you exactly as it is so nasty and full of such bad language that I just couldn't. But it was to the effect that they hoped my father had died and I miss him because they hate people who tell a story and don't just give you the recipe and live in misery you b****

What is wrong with people?

Then I had posted a recipe for Hamburger Gravy on my EK FB page and I got all sorts of abuse, albeit not quite as nasty as that comment, for posting a recipe that wasn't "English." Not from my regular commenters I hasten to add.

And then I had posted a question in the Ask a Question group and got abused from the get-go for asking the question.

Again, what is wrong with people?

I often really dislike this world we are living in. Oh, there is lots of beauty in it, and I do see that, but it seems that people are just becoming nastier and nastier. They sit there behind their phones and their computer screens tap-tap-tapping out the vitriol and they get away with it because they are "anonymous."

It got into the double digits here temperature wise yesterday. It really was a gorgeous, sunny and warmish day. It is not supposed to get quite as warm today. I had my heat turned off all day yesterday and through the night.  I have just turned it on now to warm things up a tiny bit.

A lot of the snow has melted. Out here there is a pile of really dirty snow in the middle of the front garden and nothing left in the back. We are supposed to get snow/rain showers later this week but it will not amount to much I don't think.

I need to call the service station today and tell them which tires I want them to order for the car and then make an appointment for the winter tires to be changed out and then an oil change.  I haven't really driven it a lot this Winter. I will never be able to afford to buy another car so this one needs to be well taken care of and kept on the road for as long as possible. There is no real public transport system here, at least not in comparison to what I was used to in the U.K. Boy, they loved to complain about it but really, they had nothing to complain about.

Has your brain/body adjusted to the time change yet. I am not sure why but it seems to be a bit easier this time. I always struggle with it anyways, but it doesn't seem quite so bad. I wish they would just leave it be. I don't see the use for it. I don't think the province of Saskatchewan has ever taken to it. (I could be wrong.) I think they just keep the time the same all year round.

And I think it changes in Europe at a different time than ours here in North America, which really messes things up.  Usually there is four hours difference between where I live and the U.K.,  but that is not always the case when it comes to time change. Sometimes it is only three and sometimes it is five. But only for a few weeks twice a year.

Are you confused yet? ha ha It mattered when I was calling my mother every week, but not so much now.

I am not a person that adjusts well to change at all. Not any kind of change. I like things to stay the same. I know  . . .  boring.

And with that I will leave you with a thought for the day.  I need to be getting Eileen up soon and feeding her, etc. as she is off out of here by 9!

A thought to carry with you . . .
