"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.
Look at what Elaine introduced me to at the weekend! (Thank you Elaine!) She send me a reel from Facebook. This is the work of Victoria Beata, and if you are a fan of nice things. If you are a person who is charmed by things which make you feel warm from the inside out and strike a spark of joy in your life, then you will love the work that this very talented woman does. I am totally besmirched.

Family times. I had thought that I would never be able to see my family again. Living so far away and not having the money to buy plane tickets, etc. But look at me now, living and enjoying the blessings of having daily contact with all of my family. Being able to spend time with my sister, Dan, and dad, having a close relationship with them and with three of my children. Family meals. Jaunts in the car, etc. This is all very precious to me.

I have surrounded myself with beautiful things. None of it is worth much. It is mostly just little knickknacks, treasured gifts from friends, art that inspires me, homemade blankets, etc. They are all priceless to me and they bring me joy. I have two cards that I framed which had been sent to me when I first moved into my wee house. They embodied my sentiments perfectly and they brought me great joy when they arrived and have been bringing me joy ever since. Beauty doesn't necessarily come cloaked in grandeur; it is often found in the small and simple things which bring us daily joy.
My brother sent us this photograph on Facebook of the snow when it started falling where he lives in Ottawa. They got a lot more than this. It is so pretty to look at, but I am grateful that it is not here. I do always get quite excited at the first snowfall, always have done. It is so pretty. But I am grateful that I do not have to clean it up myself. I hope that my brother was able to get someone to come and help him with that as he is not allowed to be doing anything like that with the medical procedure he just went through.
Thankfully, as well, he seems to be recovering well. No news yet with a prognosis for what comes next if anything. I thank you for your prayers.

I did not get to church yesterday. Glenna was not well so she wasn't going, and I don't really like driving that far by myself. I was able to watch it online however, so that was good. I am grateful for modern technology which affords me the blessings of being able to participate remotely. I was not able to partake of the sacrament, but I was still able to hear the talks, hymns, etc. I was spiritually fed.

I am very grateful for my faith which upholds and sustains me. It has carried me a lot through the years. It has given me strength and hope when I needed it most. It has helped me to become a better me.
Cinnamon and Nutmeg. They keep me company and bring me so much joy. They charm me and as independent as they are, they still always make their presence known to me. My two little perfect companions. I love them and they love me back.

I am grateful for my wee home. It was a real answer to prayer for me and it is all that I need or can take care of. It is comfortable and warm. It is cozy. I feel safe and at peace here within it's four walls. I am blessed beyond measure.
I have all the things in life that people need the most. Family, friend, home, faith, love, peace, joy . . . purpose. I lack for nothing. Now if that isn't a life filled with blessings and small and wonderful things, I don't know what is!
A thought to carry with you . . .

In the kitchen today, Vanilla & Yogurt Muffins. I found this recipe in the notes on my iPad yesterday. I don't know where I got it from, but I must have been impressed enough to want to type it into my iPad. They are simple and they are delicious. Not too sweet. I call them just right. I filled them with a spot of jam, but you could fill them with whatever you wish, or nothing at all!
I hope you have a lovely day. I hope it is filled with joy, peace and happiness. Don't forget!

And I do too!

Lots of snow for us too, so glad we can stay home when the weather is bad. It is still cold today and will be a snow clearing day. Hope Glenna is feeling better. Family time is very special, hope you got out for dinner with Cindy and family yesterday.
ReplyDeleteShe has her sister visiting with her now (Glenna). They are planning on going to the Remembrance Day ceremonies here in town. They do it every year. Family time is indeed very special.! Stay safe and stay warm! xoxo
