FOR TODAY, February 3, 2015

Outside my window ...
It's dark and cold.   Winter has come very late, but it has come.   With a vengeance in a lot of places I think.  My son told me yesterday that they have six foot snow banks in Fredericton!

I am thinking ...
Someone pushed a box of Malteasers through our mailbox last night and rang the doorbell.   I was like who did that?   It was a very kind gesture and everyone in the house has enjoyed.   Thanks so much!  Random acts of kindness . . .  the best.

I am thankful ...
That somebody thinks enough of us to treat us to a box of Malteasers!!

In the Kitchen ...

Easy Pot Roast.  This was so good.

On My "To Cook" list ...

Gratineed Pineapple from Wives with Knives.   This looks so good and refreshing.

I am creating ...

My pile of Raggedys in various stages of creation.  One left to put together.  Three left to embroider.  Six to paint the legs/stockings/eyes on.   Six outfits to sew.  Six hairs to put on, etc.

Pom Pom Valentine Monsters from Crafts Unleashed.  So cute!

These flowers are just beautiful.  They are made from Paper.  Found on What a Beautiful Mess.

Blooming Heart Lollipops from Pottery Barn Kids.

I am going ...
This is Stake Temple Week and I think we are going to go to the Temple on Thursday.  That's our goal anyways, alot depends on the weather.

I am reading ...

Amy and Isabelle, by Elizabeth Strout

Isabelle Goodrow has been living in self-imposed exile with her daughter Amy for 15 years. Shamed by her past and her affair with Amy's father she has submerged herself in the routine of her dead-end job and her unrequited love for her boss. But when Amy, frustrated by her quiet and unemotional mother, embarks on an illicit affair with her maths teacher, the disgrace intensifies the shame Isabelle feels about her own past. Throughout one long, sweltering summer as the events of the small town ebb and flow around them Amy and Isabelle exist in silent conflict until a final act leads ultimately to the understanding they both crave.

This is a book by the same author of Olive Kitteridge.  I enjoyed that so I thought I would read another one of hers.  Actually this is the first novel she had published.  So far it is quite good.  I want to pick another Inspector Gamache novel to read also.  I really enjoyed the first one!

I am hoping ...
I'm hoping we have really good weather on Thursday!

Makes me smile ...

How can you not smile at this?

I am learning ...
How to relax.   I have this little book called The Little Book of Mindfulness, by Dr Patrizia Collard.  It's filled with 5 and 10 minute relaxation exercises.

Around the house ...

How to get organized in a small house from The Inspired Room.

I am pondering ...
I try hard to let things go . . .  but every once in a while something happens and the past rears up it's ugly hurtful head again.   I wonder if I will ever be able to totally let things just go . . .

Perhaps I should invite him for supper?   I'll knock him up a cottage pie.

I enjoy a nice cup of herbal tea.   The red berry ones are my favourites.  Although I do like a good mint one now and again.   Lemon and Ginger too.

And that's my day book for this week!

  1. Hi, Marie! VERY fun with the "gift" of candy! :o) The naked Raggedys look like they're sleeping while waiting for new clothes. Those pom pom monsters are sooo cute!! And LOVE those paper flowers! White-on-white embroidery is my fave--*BIG SWOON*... Fun your idea sending Prince Phillip a cottage pie--LOL! Things past are some of the hardest to release... it's not always easy, sometimes depending on the level of hurt. All we can do is try... and pray. :o) Wish we could have tea together--tea and a HUG!! Happy week, my friend ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))

  2. I am pleased that someone pushed those chocolates through the door. How sweet. Thank you for the ideas you have shared. That pillowslip is adorable. I wish I was happy enough with my own sewing to attempt that.

    God bless.

  3. Surprises like your candy is so very nice. I got a surprise yesterday as one of my sons let me know they are expecting their 6th child, my 22nd grandchild, this summer. What a surprise that was and such a blessing too. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday.
