FOR TODAY, August 27th, 2019
Outside my window ...
The sky is purple tinged with rose, and I can hear a robin singing a heartfelt greeting to the day as it breaks across the sky. It looks to be another dry one thus far.
I am thinking ...
However did we get to the end ofAugust. This year is slipping off the pages of the calendar far too quickly!
I am thankful for ...
Each day that I am given. I was saying to Todd in the car yesterday, every day I am given is a gift. There are many who never made it through yesterday. The fact that I did is a beautiful treasure and I will never take any minute/hour/day/month/year for granted. He was bemoaning the fact that he is turning 81 in another week or so.
In the kitchen ...
A beautifully deliciously creamy Cheddar Chowder. I made some Everything But the Bagel Croutons for on top. This went down a real treat even if it was a kind of a hot day. We both enjoyed!
On my "To Cook" list ...
Good to know ...
I am creating...
Tut's Plus Rainbow cup cozy. Free, Crochet. A great scrap buster! This would make a great Christmas Gift if presented with a nice reusable bamboo cup.
Crochet Arcade. Free Phone Holder pattern. There are also tablet holders.
I am reading ...
Everything I Never Told You, by Celeste Ng
When Lydia's body is found in the local lake, James is consumed by guilt and sets out on a reckless path that may destroy his marriage. Marilyn, devastated and vengeful, is determined to make someone accountable, no matter what the cost. Lydia's older brother, Nathan, is convinced that local bad boy Jack is somehow involved. But it's the youngest in the family - Hannah - who observes far more than anyone realises and who may be the only one who knows what really happened.
Thoroughly enjoying this!
I am looking forward to ...
Farewell Munch and Mingle after church this week for the Senior Couple, the Boyers who will be leaving us as they finish their mission. They will be sorely missed.
Dreaming of ...
Sunny china patterns . . .
Paolo Sebastian . . . wouldn't you feel like a princess . . .
Hair dressed in pearls . . .
Nets . . .
Such elegance . . . sheer black gloves . . .
Makes me smile ...
Yesterday I opened a new bar of soap in the shower and it told me to smile . . . so I did.
Something to Watch ...
Places in the Heart. It had been a long time since I had since this film, and Todd had never seen it. We watched it last night. It was still very good.
A Thought to carry with you ...

Penny Lane, Liverpool city. In Penny Lane there is a Barber showing photographs, of every head he's had the pleasure to know, and all the people that come and go, stop and say hello . . .
And that's my daybook for this week!

And I do too!
Hi Marie, I just put "Everything I Never Told You" on hold at the library 📚. "Places in the Heart" is one of my all time favourite movies. Sally Field won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Your beautiful quote at the end of your post has given me much to think about. A couple of my comments have gone missing so hope you get this one. It's a rainy, windy day here. Hope you get some relief from the heat. Hugs, Elaine
ReplyDeleteShe deserved it I believe. I am a big fan of hers, have been since Gidget and of course the Flying Nun. Loved her in Sybil also. I am sad I did not get your comments. :-( I always look so forward to them. Its quite oppressive here today. I am looking for relief! xoxo
DeleteI pinned the pie and joined their feed!TY..Love the soap words:) Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteAren't they a cute couple. Love their blog. I loved my soap sending me a message. I had not noticed it before! You have a wonderful day also! xoxo
DeleteGot me singing Penny Lane now...Good rest of day over yonder...
ReplyDeleteYou just have to love the Beatles! I loved seeing all of the sights, their homes, the cavern, etc. I am a huge Beatles fan! Happy day to you! xoxo
DeleteThat cheddar chowder looks wonderful, Marie. Now I'm wondering if the '60's slang I once spoke sounded as dumb to the adults (*smile*).
ReplyDeleteThose long gloves make me long for days when formal fashion was practiced, at least once each year.
Thanks Mevely! Oh, I don't think our parents had a fraction of things to worry about that parents do today. I would never have dreamt of sleeping with my boyfriend. It just wasn't done! I think social media is really difficult to deal with as well. More bullying, worrying about kids "sexting" each other, etc. Glad my children are all grown up but worry about my grands! Oh formal dances were the best! xoxo
DeleteI loved that you smiled when you were told too when opening the Dove Soap.
ReplyDeleteCheddar Chowder sounds so yummy. It's soon to be more of a soup season. Although we have it year around.
Thanks for the teenage slang poster. All generations have this and it's good to know. It's scary some of the things they are doing so knowing their words is important.
The knitted gingerbread people are adorable and the owl ornament too.
The book looks like a good mystery for sure. I'm back to not getting read as much as I would like. I'm wanting to get Gerald Lund's 6th book that just came out. It pricey so I will ask for it for my birthday.
I do love dishes and these sunny ones are beautiful.
I loved the hair and the black gloves; so lovely. I liked these styles a lot.
As always a great day book entry!
Sending hugs your way!!
I think it is really scary some of the things young people are getting up to today LeAnn! We live in a vastly different world for sure! And not always for the better. This is truly the Latter Days! Looking up Gerald Lund's new book. We love all of his books! Love, hugs and blessings to you! xoxo
