Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

January is a hard month for my family.  Not only do we have to navigate the let-down after Christmas and the Winter-blues, but January is also the month that our mother passed away in and the month we lost my nephew. It can be difficult to find the glimmers.  If we dig deep enough we can find them. I am grateful that I have the will to dig deeper.

People who take the time and make the effort to lift the failing arms of one who is down, by word, thought or deed. That means you, each of you.  I am grateful for that. It does help.

How I spent my weekend. Learning how to fall in love with my life again after sadness tried to steal it. I immersed myself in the good that is mine to enjoy. I read, I listened, I studied, I prayed, I spent time with my favorite people. I relaxed with my favorite shows, books, music.

He helped  . . .

So did she . . .  it's hard to stay down when they're around and giving love.

Sunday dinner with family  . . . I love my family.

Working on and finishing a project . . .

Actively seeking out the light . . .

He is the God of the Sparrow.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.”

Not one.  Not me. Not you . . .

I believe in the God of the sparrow . . . He sees me and cries with me.  I know this to be true.

Finding time for play . . .  taking time for play.  Playing  . . .

Laughing.  Finding things that make you smile and laugh. Laughter is the best medicine for whatever ails you.

Spending time with my sister. I always feel better when I have had the opportunity to spend time with my sister. We get each other. We have always been close and supportive of each other. I do so love her very much.  I cannot imagine my life without her in it. We were close even when thousands of miles separated us. I hope that I am as much of a support to her as she is to me.

I have enough. More importantly, I am enough.  I cannot and must not let the smallness of others overcome my light or drown it out.

A thought to carry with you  . . .

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

In The English Kitchen today . . .  Honey Wholewheat Bread.  This is a bread machine loaf.  I baked it conventionally this time and was very pleased with the results.  This is wholesome and nutty and has a beautiful texture and flavor.

I wish for you a beautiful day filled with abundance.  Be happy. Don't forget  . . .
