Outside my window ...
The sun is up and shining, the birds are singing, starlings are fighting over stale buns in the garden.
I am thinking ...
Mitzie rallied for a bit yesterday but I got up this morning and she has been ill again. We probably started her on food again too soon. She was eating grass like crazy yesterday also. I couldn't keep her away from it. A very quiet day for her today methinks and hopefully she will be better soon.
I am thankful for ...
Sunny days, friends, family, faith, home.
One of my favourite things ...
Writing. I love it.
In the kitchen ...
Water Lily Pie. No, there are no watr lilies in it. Its called that because it looks like a water lily pad. Its from my friend Susan's pie book and it is dangerously delicious. Only 3 main ingredients that work like magic so that you have a lovely marshmallowy meringue crust and a filling very reminiscient of butter-tart filling.
On my "To cook" list ...
Forgotten Tribes. Southern Thai Chicken.
Good to know ...
Get Garden Tips. How to water your orchids properly.
I am creating ...
Sum of their Stories. Little House Lavendar Bags.
Baco Knitter Designs. Scrappy Hot Water Bottle Cover. A great way to use up yarn scraps.
icreative ideas. Pretty envelopes from pretty papers. Templates included.
How to Makes. Pretty Granny Heart Doily. Including video.
Sara Gresbach on Ravelry. Song of Sorrow Shawl. Very pretty. Not free.

Stones for Bread, by Christa Parrish
A solitary artisan. A legacy of bread-baking. And one secret that could collapse her entire identity.Liesl McNamara’s life can be described in one word: bread. From her earliest memory, her mother and grandmother passed down the mystery of baking and the importance of this deceptively simple food. And now, as the owner of Wild Rise bake house, Liesl spends every day up to her elbows in dough, nourishing and perfecting her craft.
But the simple life she has cultivated is becoming quite complicated. Her head baker brings his troubled grandson into the bakeshop as an apprentice. Her waitress submits Liesl’s recipes to a popular cable cooking show. And the man who delivers her flour—a single father with strange culinary habits—seems determined to win Liesl’s affection.
When Wild Rise is featured on television, her quiet existence appears a thing of the past. And then a phone call from a woman claiming to be her half-sister forces Liesl to confront long-hidden secrets in her family’s past. With her precious heritage crumbling around her, the baker must make a choice: allow herself to be buried in detachment and remorse, or take a leap of faith into a new life.
Filled with both spiritual and literal nourishment, Stones for Bread provides a feast for the senses from award-winning author Christa Parrish.
"A quietly beautiful tale about learning how to accept the past and how to let go of the parts that tie you down."
Have only just started to read this, but am loving it thus far.

And I do too!
Hi Marie, sure hope little Mitzie feels better soon. Love your lavender bags. So sweet. And the striped hot water bottle cover. That would cheer you up as well as warm your feet. Take gentle care. Hugs, Elaine
ReplyDeleteIt would for sure Elaine. Mitzie is still feeling poorly, but I am not sure how much of that is because she is sulking due to not being fed, or what. Hopefully she will be back in the pink tomorrow. We are being very strict with her today. Love and hugs, xoxo
DeleteHi, Marie! Where do the day go?! I'm behind on catching up with you! So hope sweet Mitzie will be feeling better... We used to have many orchids indoors, they grew well in our dinning room windows. But we don't have any now. Some that we had got in recent years never re-bloomed, so no orchids at the moment. I used to water them once a week, nothing special, and they did well. How cute are those little house lavender bags--sweet idea! That Granny Heart Doily looks fun to hook. That shawl looks lovely! Love knitting a shawl... Oh, I got Stones for Bread for my Kindle last week after you sharing about it. I haven't start it yet, but will soon. So sweet that you were baby sitting... and how sweet she is--how much she's grown! Happy week to you all there, dear friend... LOVE YOU LOTS!! :))) ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy! We have had our orchid re-bloom once, and are hoping that it might again. We will see! I hope you enjoy the book! Love and hugs and happy week to you and TJ and Luna! Love you lots also my sweet friend! xoxo
DeleteSo hope Mitzie is soon herself again!! Furbabies can worry us too!! Aw...sweet Grace!! So glad you get to help with her!!
ReplyDeletexoxo Elizabeth
She is pretty much back to herself today Elizabeth. Fingers crossed it stays that way! Love and hugs! xoxo
DeleteWhere can we read your published article?
ReplyDeleteHi Anna! Its supposed to be on this site: https://chefknives.expert/
DeleteIts not up yet however. Not sure why! Perhaps today! xoxo
That porch scene has stolen my heart! I hope your Mitzie feels better real soon; it always concerns me when Macie goes eating grass.
ReplyDeleteShe is feeling a lot better today. I know what you mean about grass eating. Todd says it is like medicine for them. I am not sure why they do it. I kept her away from it yesterday. She only went over to the grassed area with my supervision. And if she went to eat some I told her no. She had a very quiet day, lots of sleeping, but she hasn't been sick again and has had a few things to eat since then. Chicken and rice. Fingers crossed we are through the bad patch! xoxo
