My Favourite Things . . .

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOOPpfEd5Zsq2tbOc2-UBk6Njak8VrG7e7evggWXGZ2mh-j53ekFS5_iJ7oLR7meELGbGOHT1tpJoMRH-WDForIBx-F86puBU5K_uuGKf1hWiGc5Jko8kG6S71gFooUD3ZEZNrNzAWfJI/s320/alfp_favorite_things.png

A few of the things which catch my eye, inspire me, pluck at my heart strings, make me smile, or that I just enjoy.  Maybe they will do the same for you.

Vintage wood cook stoves.  I adore them. In my dreams  . . .

Pretty Chocolate Boxes  . . .  I used to love the Wilton's Chocolate Boxes . . .

Some of the nicest chocolates around and so many to choose from!

Flowered dresses and straw hats bedecked with blooms  . . .

Millinery blooms . . .  so hard to find these days  . . .

Mix-matched  . . .  or are they?  China plates.

Vintage Quilts . . .  in any combination  . . .

Smocked dresses for little girls  . . .

Banana Splits  . . .  love them.  An old restaurant back home used to always have Banana Split Tuesdays.  You could get one for $1. My mom and her friend Marlene always used to go on Banana Split Tuesdays and enjoy a banana split.

Cottage Gardens  . . .

Lace collars  . . .

The game of Township.  I've been playing it for about 3 years or so now.  I'm on Level 77 and belong to a great co-op! Its a game that really requires no skill.  LOL  I am not a skilled gamer!

Mason Jars  . . . I use them all the time, and not just for canning.  If there is only a small amount of milk left in the milk jug, into a jar it goes . . . . leftover gravy's and sauces, etc.

Baby deer . . .  Bambie . . .  fawns  . . .

Vintage looking calico fabrics  . . .

Bunny love  . . .

Sun Bonnet Sue  . . .

Boop Boop ee Doop!

Little red sweaters  . . . and someone to wear them.

What are some of your favourite things???

A blubbery day yesterday.  Blubbered with my father on the phone, and then my oldest son on facetime, and then on messenger with my daughter for a while as well.  We are all grieving.  I saw this quote from Dame Kelly Holmes.  She was asked about the impact her mother's death last year had had on her.  (Imagine asking someone that.)  "I had never experienced a close bereavement before, and I didn't cope well. There's nothing to tell you how to do it, and nothing can prepare you for how you are going to feel when you lose your mother. Its one of the worst things that can happen."  All I can say is  . . .  I concur.  And yet, it is something we will all have to do.    I am so grateful I had such a wonderful mother. Not all mothers will be missed.

Todd is taking Mitzie to the dog groomers this morning, and the Missionary Sisters are coming over this afternoon, so a busy day ahead. I like busy days.

A thought to carry with you . . .

  2. Hi Marie~

Happy Valentines Day! I just loved everything about this post...everything! You just have a way of finding the most beautiful photos, I love it.

I'm so glad that you are able to talk to your family, it's good to cry and to get all those emotions to the surface, it's a good thing. I know that your mom is close, especially during those times when you are so sad and miss her so deeply. Jeffery R. Holland said, "Don't underestimate your family on the other side of the veil". I believe this with all my heart, they are there for us. I know that my mom can help me way more on the other side than she could here, I know this to be true, I have felt it.

Enjoy your time with the missionaries, I know they will enjoy their time with you!! Keeping busy and serving others is the best medicine! I loved the quote too, I have been in that dark place many times, it's always easier to just bloom!! Love you sweet friend!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

    1. Thanks so much Barb! I've been trying to feel my mom around me. Maybe I am trying too hard, or maybe the grief is still too raw? Love you. xoxo

  3. Of time your favorite things are things I really like too. I loved all the clothing items today; especially the dress and hat. I long for the days of cute dresses and hats.
Of course, I always like your china photos. Once day, I take photos of my china and saucers and cups. I do love dolls so I need to share photos of them too.
    I love vintage quilts too.
I do love the old fashioned banana splits of my day; yum!
The cottage garden is delightful. The Rabbit photo is so adorable.
I just smiled at everything that you loved.
I feel sad for you and your family. It is true losing a parent is so hard. I miss my Mom, Dad and brothers so much. There are times when I feel so sad and have a break down moment.
I'm happy you could talk with your Dad, son and daughter.
Have a sweet Valentine's Day. Do you celebrate it there?
Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way!
