The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, May 10, 2016

Outside my window ...
Its very dull and overcast.   Hard to say what the day will bring yet.  It was gorgeous yesterday. The temperatures got up to 27, which is amazing.  We had to sleep with the fan on in the bedroom last night, and I am sitting here with the back door open this morning.

I am thinking ...
I am thinking about  my  hospital appointment yesterday. I almost missed it.  Todd came upstairs at 3 PM where I was working and said "Have you forgotten you have a hospital appointment today?"  The appointment was at 3:30.  Talk about rush.  But I got there in time.  The colonoscopy was normal.   Polyps benign.  I am to come off iron immediately.   I had blood tests yesterday and they will repeat the blood tests in 3 months.  If the blood tests are normal then, that's okay, a further set of blood tests in another three months after that.   If they blood tests are not normal, then there will be further investigations.  So I am not out of the woods yet, but its looking promising.

I am thankful for ...
The tender mercies of the Lord.  I experience them every day.

In the kitchen ...

Oven Baked Chicken and Broccoli Risotto.  Delicious!

On my "To Cook" list ...

Grilled Lemon Chicken Flatbread Wraps with Spicy Garlic Sauce.  From the Cosy Apron.  These look fabulous.  Grilling Season is upon us!

I am creating ...

Yesterday I did this.  I should have been doing other things.  Housework, etc.  but she was dying to come out.  I did try to work on a few other bits, but just didn't have any mojo for them.  For a few minutes I was afraid that my creative bone had left me, and then she popped up to reassure me that it was still there.  Whew!

Beautiful Butterfly brooches.  Unfortunately I could not find a source, but they wouldn't be that hard to make if you are a keen embroiderer.

Felt Cupcake Coin Purses.  From Paper and String.  A complete tutorial.  Cute!

A Reversable Bag from Martha Stewart.   Sweet.  Love the fabric choice.

Cloud, Sun and Raindrop Brooch, from Folksy.   It says unavailable, but how hard could it be.  This looks relatively simple.

I am reading ...

Still making the most of this and enjoying every minute of it.  ( I am truly savoring it)

Have added this . . .

Heaven is Here, by Stephanie Nielson.  I  have read this book before, but am re-reading it.  Stephanie Nielson is an inspiration to me.  She has the blog NieNieDialogues.  She was badly burnt over 80% of her body in a plane crash in 2008.  This is a story of survival against the odds and faith.  I cannot imagine what she has been through.

I am looking forward to ...
District Meeting this morning.  It has been several weeks.  I always enjoy District Meetings.

I am learning ...
I would love to learn a new language, but fear at my age it would be almost impossible.  There are days I have a hard enough time with English. lol

Dreaming about ...

Linen Smocks and Sophie Digard brooches . . .

French Country Dinnerware  . . .

Pink Climbing Roses  . . .

  1. Dearest Marie,

I love the dinner ware and the brooch. Our skies are filled with grey clouds most days but little rain falls.

Today has been go to the dentist day. I need some old work repairing but now new messes to deal with. So I need to save a lot for my repairs.

God bless your day and may there be lots of love.

  7. Hi Marie!

I just love to see what you have found each week - some of them are things I've marked on Pinterest, but most are new and wonderful, I just love all of your finds!

Your granddaughter is adorable - the picture would make a cute poster!

It was cold here today. Yesterday we had fierce winds, with 60 mph gusts, it was horrible! I'm looking forward to having my backdoor open and a fan on at night. I hope your weather stays beautiful.

Stephanie Nielson truly is an inspiration! That is a wonderful book, everyone should read it . . . my trials in life seem so bearable compared to what she has gone through and continues to go through. She's a true hero!

I've always wanted chickens too - maybe someday, a girl can dream, right?

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

  8. Thanks Barb! You are right about Stephanie, she is a hero in my books also. And her faith is amazing. Yes, a girl can dream. I have several friends with chickens. You think its difficult getting someone to watch a dog for you if you have to go away, its even harder to get someone to watch chickens, lol Hugs and love right back! xoxo

Your comments mean the world to me, and while I may not be able to address each one individually, each one is important to me and each one counts. Thanks so much!
