The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

 FOR TODAY, November 26th, 2019

Outside my window ...
The rain is beating against the glass and its dark, dark, dark.  Windy too.  We are in for a blustery day methinks.  We will have to find some work indoors for Ben to do today when he gets here later on.

I am thinking ...
I watched a great show on the BBC earlier this week called Believer.  It followed Imagine Dragon's singer frontman, Dan Reynolds on his personal mission to discover how the church treats its LGBTQ members.  I found it fascinating.  Todd's youngest son was gay.  Sadly two 1/2 years ago he passed away from a drug overdose. He was not a member of the church. I think the saddest thing in the world has to be young people taking their own lives because of something they are born with. It needs to stop.  If God really is love, then we need to be loving, not judging.

I am thankful for ...
Every morning when I open my eyes, I am thankful that they opened and I am here for another day and a new adventure.  Who knows what each day will bring. Good, bad, or in-between, each day is a blessing and a gift.

In the kitchen ...

Green Chili Turkey Enchiladas.  Seriously tasty.  Something delicious to do with your leftovers. These work with turkey, chicken or even pork!

On my "To Cook" list ...

Bunny's Warm Oven. Teriyaki Wings.  YUMMY!  I quite adore wings!

Good to know ...

I am creating ...

The Patchwork Heart.  Rainbow Hot Water Bottle Cover.  Love this.  OH, a blanket also.

Spin Yarn Crochet.  Free pattern for this cute Mittens Ornament.

Spin Yarn Crochet.  Newborn Deer Bonnet.  So cute!

PDF Pattern Design on Etsy. Not free but not overly expensive. I love these slippers!

I can't find the pattern for this cute ornament.  Can anyone else?  I think it is adorable.

I am reading ...

Heartless, by Marissa Meyer
Long before she was the Queen of Hearts, Catherine Pinkerton was just a girl who wanted to fall in love. Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favourite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere.

A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen. Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

From New York Times bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles, Marissa Meyer, comes a vision of Wonderland like none you’ve seen before, telling the untold story of the girl who would become the notorious Queen of Hearts.

I have only just begun this. I kept falling asleep all week before I could get very far.  I have just been too tired I guess!

  1. Watched 2 episodes of Living With Yourself because I love Paul Rudd..and could not get into it at all..:(
Queer Eye..I hopped right in! My daughter also.
I can't imagine how people can be so mean and judgemental re the LGBTQ community. It kills me how some people praise God..etc..and act despicably. It happens and not just concerning important issues.
Even in every day life..I see people that do not practice what they preach..and they preach so loudly.
I've heard them say the cuttingest remarks..behave nastily..yet they FB about God..etc..
I mean..???Well obviously it gets to me;)
Poor Todd and losing his son..

    1. Todd can't get into it either. I have not watched Queer Eye yet, but it is on my to watch list! I know what you mean. It is oftimes the ones who call themselves Christians that are the worst at judging others. I say if God is love then BE love! That's the message God wants us all to embrace. Love one another, not just the select few! Yes, it was quite devastating to Todd. Three boys and he has outlived them all. :-(

  2. Hi, Marie! That Believer programme sounded really interesting! It is very sad what sometimes happens to the LGBTQ folks within some church communities. We need to be more welcoming and inclusive. LOVE is LOVE... and God made love, and IS love. I could say a LOT about this, but I'll leave it at that. ;) Those enchiladas looks really good! A green enchilada sauce is almost impossible to find here. Actually really good Mexican in general isn't easy to find, and especially outside of larger cities. Migraine remedies are fascinating! This one is VERY interesting--must try, as I do get migraines sometimes. I do find cool at the head more smoothing--a cool cloth across the forehead and lay down a bit helps a lot! So many CUTE crafts for this week... LOVE the rainbow hottie! And that reindeer bonnet is adorable--squeal! :) Hope you all have a love-ly week there... And LOVE YOU BOTH HEAPS! OXOXOXOX ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))

  4. It must have been heartbreaking for Todd to lose his son to a drug ovetdose. I think people fear what they don't understand and feel threatened. We need to love, not judge. Hugs, Elaine

    1. It was prescription drugs as well Elaine so we will never really know for sure if it was on purpose or an accident. The poor lad lived a tragic life. He had been in a car accident when he was young and was also a paraplegic. Very sad. Yes, people do fear what they don't understand for sure! Love and hugs! xoxo

  5. It's fun to catch up a little bit with you. I have missed reading your blogs posts. I enjoy this one. I liked the crocheted items and still dream of having time again to do something.
I'm very sad about the loss of Todd's son. Suicide is such an issue today. Oh, if we could all just love one another as the Savior loves us. No judgement s, just love would be so awesome.
Thanks for sharing the migraine suggestion. I had migraines for years and I do think this looks like a great idea. I have some granddaughter's with them now. You always read such interesting books. I always enjoy your dreaming about area. The photos are beautiful and I covet a bit some of them. You know that cabin by the lake idea; looks so fun.
Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way!
