Outside my window ...
The day is in full swing. The sun is shining. The birds are singing. All is well.
I am thinking ...
About the two recent suicides of two prominent world figures. So sad. Nobody will ever know . . . tragic really. I cannot imagine where they were in their minds. Grateful for that, but sad that they felt this was the answer to whatever demons they were fighting.
Another thing I am pondering about it the abundance of ads on blogs today. Some are very intrusive. Some blogs are so ad heavy it takes a bazillion clicks before you even get to what you want to read. I find it quite obnoxious.
In the kitchen ...
Turkey, Sour Cherry & Almond Pasta Salad. Tasty, quick and easy!
On my "To Cook" list ...
From Butter Your Biscuit, Garlic Roasted Tomato and Spinach Flat Bread. This looks fabulous!
Good to know ...
Happily Ever Mom. I am not alone. LOL
I am creating ...
Tin Can Knits on Ravelry. World's Simplest Mittens. Free pattern.
Grouse Slippers. Luisianne R on Ravelry. Free pattern. Now if I could only get someone to knit them for me, lol.
Crochet N Create, Square Hat. Cute!
Purl Bee, super easy blankets to knit.
Wensleydale Tea Cosy by Jean Moss on Ravelry. Not free, but not overly expensive either. Unsual and colourful!
I am reading ...
The Pattern Artist, by Nancy Moser
Born into a life of hard work, English housemaid Annie Wood arrives in
New York City in 1911 with her wealthy mistress. Wide-eyed with the
possibilities America has to offer, Annie wonders if there’s more for
her than a life of service. Annie chooses to risk everything, taps into
courage she never knew she had, and goes off on her own, finding
employment in the sewing department at Macy’s. While at Macy’s Annie
catches the eye of a salesman at the Butterick Pattern Company. Through
determination, hard work, and God’s leading, Annie discovers a hidden
gift: she is a talented fashion designer—a pattern artist of the highest
degree. As she runs from ghosts of the past and focuses on the future,
Annie enters a creative world that takes her to the fashion houses of
Paris and into a life of adventure, purpose, and love.
Set in
20th-century New York, Nancy Moser’s novel explores the nature of
courage, obsession, revenge, religion love, loss and more as she
introduces us to THE PATTERN ARTIST, a tale sure to be embraced by fans
of inspirational romance, historical novels and Christian lit.
Born to parents whose jaded view of a world where elites rule does little to dissuade Annie Woods in her belief that there is something better in her future. At the age of fourteen she leaves home and accepts employment with the wealthy Kidd family, where she is allowed to ply her talent for sewing and design (but receives no personal recognition for her efforts). A sea voyage to the United States with the family and their domestic entourage brings Annie into a world she had never imagined, some of it positive and some negative.

And I do too!
Hi, Marie! So much in the news lately, isn't there... and as often, some of it heartbreaking. :/ It also amazing the amount of advertizing online, everywhere you go, everywhere you add--bombarded by ads! So many things to click off before you can read anything... etc. Very annoying. Ooo... but that flatbread looks delicious--YUM! And love those knitted mittens! And how fun are those tea cozies?! Some lovely yarn-things here today. Oh, but your latest reading sounds soooo GOOD--I have to see about that one! The story sounds like it could be a good movie too, or BBC series. Wishing you all a wonderful week there! LOVE YOU BOTH!! :))) ((LOVE & BIG HUGS))
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I can see it as a BBC Series. Love you also Tracy, and TJ too. Sending you hugs and blessings! xoxo
DeleteHope you have a terrific Tuesday !
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! xoxo
DeleteHi Marie, on a massive catch up today!! Things have been hectic for the last week or so, hoping for some peace and tranquillity this week!
ReplyDeleteSuicide is so so sad. It's heart breaking for the person concerned, their family and friends and also the poor person that finds them. George used to be a British Transport police officer and had to deal with the aftermath of many suicides on the train lines. Some of the train drivers and officers never get over it, understandably. My sister many years ago suffered from severe depression and fortunately my mum found her counting out her tablets to take an overdose and was able to stop her. She never tried again, thank goodness.
Well on a happier note I hope you have a fabulous evening with the missionaries!! Lot's of love xxx
Thanks Kate! I know that people who contemplate it are not in their right minds. I wish we had a better way of catching them before they actually go through with it. Its so heartbreaking for the ones they lave behind! Thank goodness your mum caught your sister! Love you! xoxo
DeleteVery sad..I knew OF AB more than KS..so it's lingering and lingering for me.All the nasty remarks re KS now..why? And that shot of the gurney leaving her apartment was in such poor taste.
ReplyDeleteJournalists..and sensationalism:(
And politics..not pretty out there.
Ok..
Ads on blogs..
sometimes I just cannot bear to get therough the posts.
So..I go less..or not at all.
I feel the same way about magazines..more ads..less content..less pages..better photos on blogs and IG..innovative recipes and ideas..
Sometimes life becomes..unlivable to a person:(
PS..Have a wonderful time..and are you going Thursday?:)
