Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny?...It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. what you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Daffodils and the other bits I find in the garden.  We have daffodils blooming all over the garden at the moment.  Todd seems to have put them into the ground very randomly.  They are here and there and scattered everywere.  Will be a bit of a nightmare when it comes to mowing, but hey ho!  (Not MY job, lol) Mitzie in all her glory.  Oh, I do love that little madame so very much.  My constant companion and confidente.  She only looks snobby, or sad, or both.  I can promise you she is neither, and if you came to our house she would go spastic with joy at greeting you.  Her hellos are very enthusiastic as are her goodbyes.

They're here, Britains harbinger of spring.  The adorable bumbling Bumble Bee.

You better not fool with a Bumblebee!—
Ef you don't think they can sting—you'll see!
They're lazy to look at, an' kind o' go
Buzzin' an' bummin' aroun' so slow,
An' ac' so slouchy an' all fagged out,
Danglin' their legs as they drone about
The hollyhawks 'at they can't climb in
 'Ithout ist a-tumble-un out ag'in!
Wunst I watched one climb clean 'way
In a jimson-blossom, I did, one day,—
An' I ist grabbed it — an' nen let go—
An' "Ooh-ooh! Honey! I told ye so!"
Says The Raggedy Man; an' he ist run
An' pullt out the stinger, an' don't laugh none,
An' says: "They has be'n folks, I guess,
'At thought I wuz predjudust, more er less,—
Yit I still muntain 'at a Bumblebee
Wears out his welcome too quick fer me!"
~James Whitcomb Riley

The forsythia is likewise in bloom, along with quite a few other trees I have noticed as we drove to church yesterday.  Our forsythia is not very large, but it gives a joyous shout out to us each year and each year it gets a tiny bit larger.  Oh to have a forsythia hedge.  Now that would be something to behold!  Some people are that lucky, for I have seen them.  The hedges, not the people.  A tulip tree down the road is also in bloom and I see what I think are called May Blossom, or maybe not, but I have seen these trees all blooming.  I know it is not cherry. Far too early for that.

But things are definitely
greening
up

Spring is springing.

I have recently discovered this series on Netflix.  It is a bit irreverant, with bad language and things of a sexual nature, but it is also very funny.  If you are offended greatly by these things I would not recommend, but it is good for a laugh and I am enjoying it.  I find myself laughing out loud quite a bit.   These two people are so awkward and find themselves in awkward situations a lot and it makes me laugh and God knows some days, I really need to laugh.

Yesterday was our Fast and Testimony meeting at church for March.  Normally it would be the first Sunday of the month but we had a special Stake Conference on that day so this week we had the F&T meeting.   Being able to get up and bear your testimony is such an uplifting experience.  To be able to share your love of the Gospel with others and witness to the truth of it is such a soul enriching experience.  To be able to hear and be uplifted by the testimonies of others is also really wonderful.  We had an especially inspiring and uplifting meeting yesterday.  The Spirit was so very strong.  I knew that it was going to be during the blessing and passing of rhe Sacrament.  The spirit witnessed to me so strongly as I partook of the bread and water that my eyes were litereally filled with tears the whole time.  I could not resist getting up and sharing how I felt.  Not for some I know, but it really inspires me.  Some Sundays, you just can't stay sitting in your seat!  You just have to be heard!

Two weeks down and two left to go.  We are halfway through.  Its gone fast so far.  Well, I speak for myself.  Maybe Todd feels differently.  He seems to be coping very well with it however.  He is a bit more tired, but he was already feeling tired because of the hormone therapy.  He is growing man boobs.  He is a bit upset about that.  He showed me them yesterday. But we both agree that you have to do what you have to do, and if having man-boobs is the price you pay, then we pay it.  So grateful for an early diagnosis and modern medical advances and treatments.  We are blessed.

So enjoying this latest series of Call The Midwife.  This show just goes from strength to strength.  It touches me each week with storylines that are realistic and emotional and heart warming, and characters that you fall in love with.  I thought it would never be the same when Jenny left, but it has gotten better and better.  I love this show.   It is a classic that will never get old.  Sunday nights and Call the Midwife, they are meant to be together.  I wish I could get my mother to watch it.  I know she would love it if she did.

Sunday calls with Mom.
Those are the best
of all.

I cherish them.

And with that I will leave you with a thought for the day  . . .

  3. I enjoyed your Springtime post. I do not agree with the Bumble Bee bit though, I have never yet met a cranky Bumble but now I am in the States maybe they are different here. They seem to be very mellow and never sting.
I can not wait to see Daffodils. I can't wait to want to be outside again......please send us Spring. I also love "Call the Midwife" but have not seen "Love"
Enjoyed the visit and would love to see my blog on your list of places you visit someday

  4. Just loved all of this one. I am happy that Toddis tolerating the treatments. Yes, man boobs are not that bad at all; he should relax on this one. I love all the little signs of spring. We aren't getting very much yet; but there are a few buds coming up. I am so happy to just have sunshine; it has been a bit deary here. Fast and Testimony meeting is one of my favorites. Our Stake President wants us to bare our testimonies in every Sacarment meeting we attend in the different wards. I try but I don't like to take the time from ward members; but I do want to obey the counsel from our Stake President.
Right now our mission is so busy. We had three MLS couples in our Stake of 9 wards and we each had a ward building with three wards. The two couples were were serving with were released in January and haven't been replaced so we have the entire Stake of 9 wards. We are really running two and fro and have picked up a ton of visits. It's a great experience and we have many miracles; but I am so tired sometimes.
I love that you talk with your Mom each week. Enjoy every precious moment on this one. I miss my sweet Mom all the time and wish I could talk to her.
Thanks for this one and for all your thoughts! Love and hugs for you~
