"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Church on Sunday. What a great start to the week. Filling my spiritual lamp with oil. Being able to partake of the sacrament. Listening to inspiring talks, attending Relief Society afterwards and getting to learn and fellowship/share with the sisters. All good. There is no place I would rather be on Sunday mornings. I almost didn't go, because of my hair. But I went anyways and was glad that I did. I can't stay locked up because of a bad hair cut. Actually, everyone said it looked nice, etc. I don't know if they were just being kind, probably.
Anyways, I was glad to be there and blessed in the going.

After I got home from church and changed into my everyday clothes I went with Cindy and Dan up to the cemetery to visit mom's grave. Dan cleaned up the little garden spot and Cindy had some flowers. I had some flowers also. I left a stone. It was a good place to be on Mother's day. Totally frigid, however. It is on a bit of a hill and the wind was brutal. I was freezing. But it felt good to be able to show my respect and love for my mother on Mother's Day.
After I got home from the Cemetery my cousin Sheri dropped by for a visit. She had a little gift for me. These sweet toadstool salt and pepper shakers. I was surprised and very pleased. I made her a chocolate chip cookie coffee, and we had a lovely visit with each other. I could just imagine our two mom's looking down on us from heaven in approval. Sheri is so much like my Aunt Freda (her mother). Aunt Freda and I were always very close. Sheri sent her DNA in to be done a number of weeks back. We are waiting anxiously to see her results. Its pretty exciting actually. Anyways, I really enjoyed her visit. We have vowed to do it more often!

Sunday Dinner at Cindy's. She cooked a beautiful meal as always. Roast Ham, baby potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. The best part is always getting to spend the time with family. Cindy, Dad, Dan. Family times are the best of times. I love my family.

Mother's Day facetimes with Anthony and Douglas. I enjoyed them both, and then Eileen and Tim, both messaged me Happy Mother's Day greetings on Facebook. Eileen and I talk just about every day anyways, but it is nice to be remembered on special occasions like this. Again, I love my family very much.
I had some time to do a bit more paint practice on Saturday. I did another Daisy and a Pluminaria. I was happy with the way they both turned out. I really need to get back into painting more often. It is nice to lose yourself in brush, ink and color.
This. I do not know what I would do without having some creative outlets. Crochet, etc. It feels good to keep the hands busy and occupied and being able to create something beautiful for my home while doing so.

I finally saw my first hummingbird of the season. While Sheri was here a little female visited the feeder. It was good to see her. The cats and I will have many hours of pleasure watching these little creatures all summer long. God is good.

Each of you and your faithfulness in visiting me as often as you do, leaving your sweet comments, supporting me. I do so appreciate each and every one of you. You all make my heart smile in a very special way. You have become my online family. Thank you.
I have a busy day today. Going to the Vet with Cindy and Mac this morning. Then this afternoon I have a Doctors appointment to discuss the results of my latest bloodwork. And then this evening, I have my final Financial Self Reliance Class. It is hard to believe that it has been 12 weeks since I started the class, and here we are finishing it up. It's been good and I have learned some very valuable things from taking it.
Faith, family, home, friendship. I have been blessed abundantly, and I know it.
I best leave you with a thought for the day now as time is marching on, and I have to be at Cindy's in not too long from now.
A thought to carry with you . . .
