"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Church on Sundays. Whether I am able to attend in person or if I have to watch it online, it is always a great way to either start my week or end my week, depending on how you look at it. Of course, if I watch it online, I am unable to partake of the sacrament, which is the most important part of the service, so it is much better to be able to go in person. This week I was able to go in person. It was good to be there. Yesterday was fast and testimony meeting. The first Sunday of the month the time is given over to the sharing of testimonies after the passing of the sacrament. I always enjoy listening to the testimonies of others. They always uplift me and help to support my own.
Church, it's not a bad way to spend your Sunday morning.

When I got home yesterday, it was time to put everything out by the road for the local Spring Cleanup. I put out the dollhouse and a few other bits. The dollhouse is gone this morning. Result! Cindy and Dan had brought over a bag of old bed linens, and I had some rubbish from the back yard from where that gardener had sorted out my garden last autumn, old fencing etc. Sheila dragged off the fencing. Apparently, she wanted it for her garden. If I had known that I would have given it to her a long time ago. Anyways, it has all just been picked up and is gone. Yay! In the autumn there will be another cleanup pickup.
Some places in town, especially the houses where they have been turned into multiple apartments are loaded with stuff that's being discarded. Sofa's, mattresses, etc. It is good to have this option.

Lift where you stand. Do whatever good that you can on a daily basis. Small and simple things. It all adds up. Together we can transform this world and make a difference.

The days are getting longer and warmer. It is time to start putting the blankets away for a season. I am still finishing the latest one I am crocheting. I have a few more squares to join and then will begin the border around. I love the colors that I have chosen for it.

Saturday night I even had them in my bed. I did not think I was going to be able to fall asleep, but I did eventually. Last night there was none in my bed that I knew of or noticed. I did find a few on the sofa. Oh, how I hate ant season, but I am grateful for the ways we have available to us to curtail them.

Sunday Dinner with the family. Yesterday Cindy had made a meatball casserole. It was really good. I am very grateful that she includes me every week. Mac is feeling quite a bit better. He was quite friendly yesterday which was nice to see. Poor little mite. This is an ongoing condition so he will probably never be 100% better, I guess. I didn't really see much of the other cats yesterday. It was nice also to visit with dad. He was not wearing his hearing aids at all, and Dan was watching a movie, so our conversation was a bit curtailed as I didn't really want to disturb Dan's movie watching. He has (Dad) his computer all unpacked, but at least he hasn't tried (yet) to set it up. Hopefully he will wait until David is here to do that. Cindy has it put up in a spot in his room where it won't be knocked over by the cats. (Fingers crossed.)

Enjoying looking at the gardens up and down the street. Some people have beautiful gardens. The lady next to Glenna has some beautiful tulips as does Glenna. Glenna's forsythia is in bloom and the house at the end has some flowering bushes that are in bloom. One lady has a whole garden of dancing Daffodils. I am reminded of Wordsworth's Daffodils at Ullswater. I sure wish that I could have seen them when I was there. Alas, I was never at Ullswater during Daffodil season. I did get to see his childhood home, Dove cottage where he lived with his sister Dorothy and the school he attended as a boy.

Truth. I have been blessed with abundance. I have more than I need and enough to share with those who are in need themselves. I am grateful for that. Tender mercies. Grace and abundance. Answered prayers. Faith, family, home, friendships. God is good.
Ohh, I just opened my living room curtains, and the front lawn is covered with rain drops from last night's rain and they are twinkling like little golden gems. So pretty. I tried to take a photo of it, but alas, it didn't work. The little golden glints did not show up, but trust me, they are there and it's so pretty.

This was on my Mary Engelbreit calendar this morning. Sweet.
In The English Kitchen this morning. Fajita Chicken Breast Casserole. Quick and simple to make. Low carb, keto friendly and delicious.

Lovely flowers to look at today, thanks. Church is a great way to start a week…sometimes, church can be at home…or in our thoughts…’doing a bit of good’ can be church also. How kind of you to make a birthday special for your friend, it’s so nice to be remembered, isn’t it? So glad little Mac is doing better…and cleaning out is a good thing, too…you’ve been very busy. Sending happy wishes to you for a happy new week, Virginia
ReplyDeleteThe rain on grass is a photo in the heart and mind as camera's just don't do them justice. Good to hear Mac is improving. Took
ReplyDeletedaughter and dog to vet this morning, he has an ear infection, came out with this helmet like thing protecting his ears as he had one drained and they don't want him scratching it. There was a free give away day in the next city over to us, a great way to get rid of items. One persons trash is another persons treasure. An overcast day with little bits of rain in the air. That seems to be the weather for us lately, rainy, dull and windy. Have a good Monday.
Meatball casserole, don't think I have ever seen that recipe anywhere. Sounds yummy! Also, interesting chicken fajita recipe...we are having some chicken fajitas for supper with a side of refried beans tonight. Using up some of the whole chicken I baked yesterday. Simple fare can be most yummy. We like to know what we are eating by looking...people who eat strange unknown stuff are a mystery to us!!
