Sunday, sunday . . .

A little bit of good advice always goes a long way . . . just for today. A bit of wisdom taken from an anthology of verse, poetry, thought and prose by Stan and Sharon Miller.

Just for today . . . I will try to live through this day only and not tackle my whole life problems at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a liftime.

Just for today . . . I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, "That most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Just for today . . . I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today . . . I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take luck as it comes, and fit myself to it.

Just for today . . . I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't want to do, just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be huts, but today I will not show it.

Just for today . . . I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything and not try to improve or regulate anybody except myself.

Just for today . . . I will remember that language is the dress of my thoughts. Everytime I speak I will remember that my mind is on parade. I will recall that someone said, "You can always tell what kind of wheels are a man's head by the spokes that come out of his mouth."

Just for today . . . I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: Hurry and Indecision.

Just for today . . . I will have a quiet half hour all by myself, and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life.

Just for today . . . I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful, and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.

~the end

All eyes were on Pippa yesterday as she got married to her boyfriend James.  What a beautiful dress she wore, very modest I thought, but stunning, and the weather could not have been nicer.  Apparently people had been camped out for hours at the location in anticipation of perhaps seeing royals and other celebs arrive at the venue. I think every bride is radiant on her wedding day, don't you?

What a stunner the Kate is.  I loved the care shown in this photo of her arranging her sister's dress just so  . . . and her outfit . . .

Of course I think she could wear a paper bag and still look fabulous.  I am a huge fan of these younger royals.  What a sweet, sweet family.

I do not envy them having to live in a fishbowl
however.  Must be hard, but
they do it very
well.
...

Not a lot on today, just church and my usual phone calls this afternoon.  I am looking forward to church and renewing my spiritual battery.  I am looking forward to my phone call with my mom also.  I think we will be bringing the sacrament to a shut in friend later on also, so quite a busy day planned altogether.  Ohhh, and guess what starts on the telly tonight  . . .

Inspector George Gently, Series 8 . . .  the final one.  *Sniff*Sniff*  It has been an ace television series.  Thank goodness for DVD's so that I can watch them whenever I want. Martin Shaw just gets better and better looking the older he gets.  This is such a great series and so well done.  I don't think anyone does crime drama better than the British!  Yes, I am a tad bit biased!

And we have binged on Anne with an E.  There is only one episode left for us to watch.  Will be sorry to see that end also.  It's been wonderful.

And with that I will leave you with a thought for the day . . .

Its a picture one for today.

In the English Kitchen today  . . .  Cinnamon Tea Cake.  Simple and good.

Have a blessed Sunday!  Whatever you get up to don't forget . . .

  1. Good morning Marie. Today your post has sent shivers down my spine. It is a brilliant and inspired read. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I felt so bad yesterday and your loving words helped. But I decided I needed my internet so I bought my plan early. I am saving like crazy so I can travel again. Beth wants to take me to the shambles in Yorkshire. I would love to go see where my mother grew up.

    God bless your day.

  2. Living one day at a time is the best way to live for sure. I finished the series Anne with an E. I'm thinking it's one story that could have further episodes. I'm hoping they do. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
