"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny?...It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. what you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.
Learning how to take a selfie. Lura is such a great instructor! I even learnt how to use a selfie stick, which Lura kindly left behind for me as a gift! Todd's life will never be the same as I will be selfie-ing us wherever we go!
Once again John managed to take a selfie where he is the only one without a double chin, lol. What is HIS secret! Grateful for sunny, sunny days, even if they were cold! I was so grateful that I had an extra Winter coat to lend Lura so that she could also be toasty warm despite that cold wind!
Getting to spend time with my Sister from another mother. Eight years is a long time to wait to spend some quality time together again. WE had such a great week, and Todd and John got along together really well also, which is always a blessing! When the husbands get along, it makes everything so much easier!
Having the Power of the Priesthood in my home. This is such a blessing. When Lura was feeling so poorly, they were able to administer a Priesthood blessing to her. Todd did the annointing and John did the blessing. Lura felt a whole lot better afterwards, and was able to recover enough to be able to enjoy the rest of their stay with us. Although to be sure, our age was telling as none of us was running circles by the end. We were all feeling pretty beat, but it was a good kind of feeling beat!
Having friends you can be yourself with. Just yourself. Warts an' arl, as Angie would have said! Oh, I miss Angie. It's been six years and I miss her still.
Getting to spend a week with these dear, dear people. I told John his love of Fish and Chips means he must be related to my family. Wherever we go we usually all order fish and chips for our meal. Me ordering the chicken dinner that day was most unsual actually! This time together passed far too quickly! Having said that we were in bed by 8:30 last night! We were tired! lol Our age is showing!
My weekly Sunday Afternoon phone call with my mom. They mean the world to me, and I really look forward to them each week. Even if I know we mostly just talk about the same things each week. It is so good to hear her voice. All through the years whenever my mom needed help or anything at all, I was always the one to be there for her. It pains me that I cannot be there for her now, because this was the one time I had always planned throughout my life to be there with her for. Life has a funny way of ending up totally different than that which you have planned. Nevertheless, I am grateful that my sister is able to be there for her, and for the care that she lovingly gives. I wish that I could speak with my mother every day. I really do . . .
And with that I will leave you with a thought for today . . .

ReplyDeleteIt's a new week and a new chance to make more happy memories ! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
ReplyDeleteOh sweet Marie, I so loved the selfies and it's because I wish we could meet Todd and you sometime. I really love Lura and her dear John. I hope to have more time with her in the future. Since our mission we haven't been able to connect for a while; except through social media. I often think I need to call her and then I don't because I just get to overloaded.
ReplyDeleteI know that the two of them loved every moment with the two of you. Love and hugs for all!
Thanks Linda! We did have a great time! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! Hope you have a wonderful week also! xoxo
Thanks LeAnn! I am sure you will get to spend lots of time with Lura in the days to come. xoxo
