And I do too!

Prayers going up to Mac today for a safe, healthy outcome, our fur persons hold a most special place in our lives.
ReplyDeleteWe always had a lovely ham at Easter,my mom made every holiday special.
Love all the pretty bits n' bobs!
Thanks so much Beth! Mom always made our holidays special as well. Back them we did not have huge expectations. Simple things done well and we were happy with them! I will let everyone know how Mac made out tomorrow! xoxo
DeleteEvery now and then I cheat and have some sourdough bread with jam. Gluten free bread just doesn't match sourdough. Hopin the vet is able to solve Mac's problem today. Hugs and positive thoughts. We are having ham for Easter, will check out your recipe next. Still chilly, dull and damp today. Keep busy and hope the day passes quickly, as I know your thoughts will be with Mac.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the gluten free bread Linda. It has an unusual texture which I don't really care for. But I suppose it is better than nothing! I will let you all know how Mac does in tommorrow's post! Thank you! xoxo
DeleteWell, ladies, the Schar brand is most tasty I have found. Of course, most I cannot eat as they usually have tapioca in them which could kill me if I ate it. There is also a specialty sandwich bread that is more sourdough than their other loaves and quite a treat in my opinion. NOTHING tastes like wheat!! So you do the next best thing. My hubby gets a kind baked right here in North Carolina after you order it. He loves the cinnamon raisin bread kind most. But it has teff in it which also does not like me...but I get it for him. It is called Simple Kneads. I also have a homemade glutenfree cinnamon raisin bread he loves but I have not made that in some time now...it all takes a LOT of time you know.

PS...I do a few things to glutenfree bread recipes that, in my opinion, has helped the loaves. I open up a Vit C capsule (my preferred kind is called Ester C) and add to dough flours mix. Then if you can add a package of gelatin to the flours also, that adds something. Adding eggs to baked things in general sure helps the texture and cohesiveness. I hope to eventually work on making glutenfree sourdough at home. There is another method I learned online that involved making up a very small portion of the dough first, adding it in at some point...I need to look up my recipe...I think it is a Japanese method I found online. I will try to send on that info Marie once I have more time to locate that particular recipe. I am no expert...just love all the ideas one can find online to try out, including here with Marie, of course.

Schar is the gf bread I use, the sourdough one and I also use their buns from time to time. Most times I do without bread or buns. Some gf breads use chickpea flour and that is just as bad for me as regular wheat. You have to do what works for your body.
DeleteLove those cottages…well, and all your delightful images…thanks.
ReplyDeleteBestest to Mac and Cindy…and you. Virginia
Thanks very much Virginia! xoxo
