My Christmas Wish . . .

   photo treeinthewindow.jpg

One of my deepest prayers each Christmas is that the children of today will grow up to find a tomorrow free from War and Strife, Hunger and Sorrow . . . and  a world filled with joy and peace and most important of all . . .  LOVE.  I am told there has never been a time in the world's history that has been free from War or human struggle, but I live in hope.

The science of War has reached a point now where the entire world could be demolished just by the push of a button held in the wrong hands . . . slowly we are destroying the planet by over-use of our resources and greed.  In a world where so many have so much, there are still multitudes who have nothing at all and who suffer greatly at the hands of their fellow men.

To an outsider looking in . . . it could look very dire indeed.  But there is good news to cling to and with Christmas comes the promise that the hope of all mankind rests in faith  As a man thinketh so is he . . . and nothing much happens unless you believe in it.  In believing there is hope for the world, we find a way to move towards it.

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angels a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying . . . Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

Today as we light our Christmas trees and candles . . . as we open our gifts and  share the loving company of family and friends, may we recognize the favour of God's blessings upon us,  and remember the reason for the season and ponder it in our hearts . . . for this is not just the season of Christmas . . . it is the season of hope.

  8. I do truly believe that PEACE will come to our poor world one day and indeed the way it is going it may be much nearer than anyone thinks...mind you I think mayeb if we looked back 1,000 years they may well have been saying the same. There were such atrocities in that time as well as now...But I can live in hope and pray that the time will be soon....
I have had a funny kind of Christmas day. Tried to keep busy and Mary and I opened our lovey presents as always...hard very hard was opening our presents from Margaret and seeing her handwriting and realising that we will never see that again.. It was lovely that Mitch felt able to come over and have his Christmas lunch with us. which he enjoyed and ate well although saying at first he wasn't sure how much he could eat...I was not comming on line tonight but thought I would just pop in for a few moments. It is good to read your lovely blog as always...I hope your dinner went well with the Sisters..and that you have ahd a great day...xxx

  10. I think you are right Sybil, evil has always existed. Perhaps with the technology we have today we just know more about it. I don't know, but I feel like the Saviour's return won't be long off. IF I live to see it? I don't know, but the scriptures do tell us that those who see the signs will also see His return. I was so sorry about your Sister and I can imagine your day was a real mix of emotions. Love you so much. xxoxoxo

  11. LeAnn, like you I think His return is imminent. I can feel a sense of urgency each time our prophets speak. We must make sure our lamps are full! xoxoxo
