My Favorite Things . . .

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens . . . these are some of the things in life that I enjoy, and which make me happy, inspire me, or put a smile on my face. Maybe some of them are yours too.  Let's share!

Orange Marmalade  . . .  I love that combination of bitter and sweet.

Oh, it's the little cast iron dinner bell that I had in the U.K. That was really one of my favorite things. I loved it.

Taking tea . . . it's such a wonderful activity, even if you do it just for yourself. You can pretend you're Jane Austin.

A table set with pretty things. I used to love setting the table at the manor. Such beautiful cutlery, china, crystal etc.  Table linens. It was all so beautiful.

Owls. I love owls.  There was an Owl sanctuary not too far from where I lived in the U.K. They are such fascinating creatures.  I remember one time driving home from a nighttime activity at church in the U.K. a white barn owl was flying alongside of the car. It was really neat.

Pretty stationary.  I love looking at it but cannot bring myself to use it. I am afraid that I will never see it again so I find myself hoarding it. I know . . . very greedy of me.

Pink ranunculus . . .

Rustic mountain cabins . . . I would be a tiny bit afraid of bears though . . .

Sheep, they are such gentle creatures. I have only ever seen one flock of black sheep. They were in a field outside of Chirk.

Misty mornings  . . .

Pretty book covers  . . .

Flower markets  . . .

Plants on a windowsill . . .

A white picket fence . . .

The curiosity of wildlife . . .

This made me chuckle.

Spending time with family.  I had a great day yesterday. I was out with Cindy for a good part of the day and then we both went out to supper with Dad last night as Hazel wasn't going to be there. We did not want him to eat on his own and he was going no matter what. Time spent with family is never wasted.

A thought to carry with you . . .

Caesar Pork Chops

In The English Kitchen today  . . .  One Pan Caesar Pork Chops. Tender, juicy, delicious and very simple to make. Only one pan and three simple ingredients, not counting the cherry tomatoes which are optional.

I hope you have a lovely day. Chilly again this morning, but it has been warming up nicely during the day. From what I can find out this morning the fire is stable and staying at the same size.  We are expecting high winds (no rain) from the hurricane this weekend so we will see how that goes.   Whatever you get up to this morning, don't forget!

  1. We have a similar bell but with a goose on the top. Love orange marmalade, used to make it in England as you could buy the large can of ingredients. We had a misty morning and it is much cooler and more comfortable. Good news that the fire isn't spreading. Lovely family time with Cindy and your dad yesterday. Hope today is just a nice for you.

  2. Hopefully, in spite of weather forecasts, you will get some rain...looks like a storm from the west might eventually reach you as well!! The crazy bird pecking on the mirror reminded me of when my son lived out in the country. There was 1 bird that just waited for his truck to arrive home so it could begin its pecking on his mirror. I cannot remember how someone got the stupid thing to go away, but he was very worried it might be able to damage it with time as that bird spent hours every day pecking away. I think sometimes animals must be lacking brain cells too. Fortunately they are not all like that!!
