I have to say I had a very busy but lovely day yesterday, for the most part. There is a wildfire burning not too far from where both Cindy and I live, and near to my cousin Sheri's and you can smell it in the air. I am hoping and praying that they can contain it, and that we get rain. Yesterday on my weather ap it said rain later today, but now it is not showing any rain.
I do believe that we need to be ready to evacuate, just in case. God willing, we will not have to, but we should be ready. Just in case.
I had lots of lovely Birthday greetings yesterday both on here and on Facebook, etc. I appreciated each and every one of them. I started trying to respond to each one, but I find I am quite unable to respond to them all. I will probably just have to do a group thank you.
I wanted to show you some of the lovely gifts that I got yesterday.
I had received a box in the post from Elaine and I spent the morning opening her gifts, one at a time. I wanted to spread it out. Beautifully wrapped as always with a lovely handmade card. From the top left down and across to the right. I hope you can see them. If you click on it the photo will come out larger.
Some lovely pillowcases and a sheet. So pretty. She knows I adore bedding and pillowcases.
Vintage days of the week hand embroidered kitchen towels. So cute with little bears on them doing things like baking, washing, etc.
A beautiful pair of hand-knit socks. I will really get use of them this winter when it gets really cold!
Some gorgeous hand crocheted doilies, in colors that match my living room perfectly.
Two Enid Blyton adventure books. I really enjoyed reading the one she sent me at Christmas and I know I am going to enjoy reading these. I am a child again.
Two lovely dresses for my Blythe Dolls. With some hair accessories. I will have to change their clothes and put them on. I did not have time yesterday. So pretty and cute though. I know they will look beautiful in them.
Such a thoughtful package from such a thoughtful friend. Filled with many of the things that I love. Many of my favorite things. Thank you Elaine. You were too good to me.
Cindy popped over after lunch with a card from Dad with some money in it (will help me to pay for my car detailing in September) and a card from her and Dan and a bag with some more gifts in it.
Again you may need to click on the photo to see things better. This is what was inside.
A cute little hand crocheted bag frog. (She made this. It is a frog that you can hand onto your back pack or purse or whatever. He is adorable with his little yellow overalls and little Buggie eyes.
A medicine bag, handmade by the native people of the province that she picked up on her trip to Keji last week. It has a smooth white pebble in it. It is a sacred pouch meant to hold things that bring spiritual protection and power to their owners.
The cutest cherry pitter I have ever seen. You can also pit olives with it.
A Community cookbook put out by the Kings Theatre in Annapolis Royal, just down the valley from us. She knows I also had to leave all of my Community Cookbooks behind when I came back to Canada.
A Chef Barbie doll. She knows I had to leave all of my Barbies, etc. behind in the U.K.
Some Bucatini. This is a long pasta like spaghetti but fatter and with a hole down the middle. I have been buying mine online. She found some locally.
An
Ugly Sketch Book. Seriously that is the name of them. This one has a bright pink cover and blue pages, although you cannot tell from the photograph.
This is a much better representation of the colors here.
Altogether a lovely bag of goodies, and once again, very thoughtful.
How blessed am I to have such thoughtful people in my life? My cup runneth over. And I am very grateful for their love and care. Just their love and their friendship is enough. Sincerely.
The lovely cards, etc. I got in the post. All of your kind Birthday wishes on here, so appreciated. Once again a great blessing. Thank you.
I felt very loved all the day through. I had a number of phone calls from people, etc. I heard from each of the children that I expected to hear from. It was all good.
I am feeling quite distracted this morning from the smoke, etc. It all feels very close. I need to go out and get my car filled with gas, pick up another cat carrier, get water, etc. Have everything like my important papers ready to go, just in case. Just be organized. Its the smart thing to do.
This is another short post today. I am praying for some rain and that they are able to get the fire south of us in control and that another one doesn't spring up. Positivity and preparedness is the order of the day.
A thought to carry with you . . .

In The English Kitchen today, an Easy Asian Noodle Bowl with Chicken and Vegetables. Simply delicious. Quick and easy to make as well!
I hope that you have a lovely day. I think we are going to take dad and Maryann out this afternoon while we gather our bits and pieces. God willing. Be safe and be happy. Don't forget!

And I do too!
Best to be prepared for evacuation, just in case. Hoping that it doesn't come to that for you. Our daughter is safe now, fire is considered to be in hold position, friend's son who was also one street away from eeacuation in Haiburton, Ontario has had the fire deemed in hold position after some much needed rain. Others I know are safe so I know you will be too.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely gifts for your birthday. Everyone knows you so well.
Take care.
