Today . . .

Slight change of plans today.  Yesterday morning I decided to bake this old recipe I had saved, probably forty years ago for Orange Scones.  BLAH! It was a total failure.  They were supposed to be these pretty scones wrapped around an orange filling.  They flew apart, the sugar burned, etc. I hate it when that happens. A total waste of time and ingredients.

I went to bake something else and realized that not only did I only have one egg left, but I was out of butter, sugar, cream, baking powder and a whole lot of other stuff. Cindy and I did take a drive up to Peltons and I picked up some eggs and our Christmas Chicken, but a trip to the Grocery store is sorely needed! So that is what we are doing early this morning (to beat the crowds!)  I don't have time this morning to do a regular post, but I will be back tomorrow as usual. I know you will forgive me!  In the meantime I hope you have a beautiful day!

I just didn't want you to worry if I didn't post anything!

Chocolate Peppermint Bundt Cake

Do check out my recipe for a delicious Chocolate Peppermint Bundt Cake on the EK page.

I will be back tomorrow with a full post and, God-willing a tasty new recipe. In the meantime stay safe and do remember, you are precious.  Don't forget!

  1. Sorry about the recipe fail...happens to us all!! Having lived in various types of humidity climates...some bone dry, others the worst, it can wreak havoc on recipes. When we moved to Hawaii, I like to never figured out HOW to get good cookies that did not totally spread out in the pan!! Same recipe worked great in Idaho, but was a failure in Hawaii. There, they did not use regular frosting on cakes but something called marshmellow frosting...the only thing that would not melt on the cake after decorating.

  4. You are sweet Marie… stopping by here, even when life gets a little crazy! ☺️ Oh, but I hear you on the baking “disaster”—have had a few of those through the years, and they do test the tolerance level, don’t they? 😂 Nothing like wasted time, energy, ingredients, money. But thankfully, we can turn our minds around too. 😉 I fond myself seeking new recipes less for kitchen disappointments like you experienced. Your recipes are always trustworthy though… and we are happy to have them. 🤗 Glad the day was saved with new eggs. Mmm…eggs… I could eat some scrambled eggs! Happy Day, my friend! OX—Tracy 🩵❄️🩵
