The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY, December 29th, 2020

Outside my window ...
Its cold and clear. No snow. Just cold. Not complaining. Just happy to be here.

I am thinking ...
This is the last Simple Woman's Daybook for this year, and what a year it has been.  One for the record books for sure.

I am thankful for ...
Faith, family, friends. Good health. Security. Peace.

In the kitchen ...

This was my very first recipe of 2020 that I shared.  Garlic & Parmesan Crispy Potatoes. It was a great way to start the year.

On my "To Cook" list ...

Delicious Magazine. Gennaro Contaldo's Porchetta. This looks fabulously delicious.

Good to know ...

I am wanting to create ...

Start Knitting, a stich sampler shawl.  Love this.  Free pattern.

LeeLee Knits.  Soft and cosy leg warmers.

Made by Joel.  Paris in an Altoid Tin.

Lorrainespick  on Instagram.  Inspiration.

Happy in Red.  10 beautiful crochet edges for blankets, etc.

I am reading ...

The Confession Club, by Elizabeth Berg
In this uplifting novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Story of Arthur Truluv, good friends discover that the things we fear revealing to others can be the very things that bring us closer together.

When a group of friends in Mason, Missouri, decide to start a monthly supper club, they get more than they bargained for. The plan for congenial evenings—talking, laughing, and sharing recipes, homemade food, and wine—abruptly changes course one night when one of the women reveals something startlingly intimate. The supper club then becomes Confession Club, and the women gather weekly to share not only dinners, but embarrassing misdeeds, deep insecurities, and long-held regrets.

They invite Iris Winters and Maddy Harris to join, and their timing couldn't be better. Iris is conflicted about her feelings for a charming but troubled man, and Maddy has come back home from New York to escape a problem too big to handle alone. The club offers exactly the kind of support they need to help them make some difficult decisions.

The Confession Club is charming, heartwarming, and inspiring. And as in the previous books that take place in Mason, readers will find friendship, community, and kindness on full display.

I am really enjoying this!

Dreaming about ...

The thrill of sledding.  That I could do. You can sit while doing it, lol.

The smell and taste of home smoked bacon. Thick cut and delicious  . . .

Home made noodles  . . .  so delicious  . . .

A paper bag of fresh donuts  . . .

Drool worthy burger and fries  . . .

Something to watch ...

Virgin River on Netflix. I love, LOVE this show!

Makes me smile ...

This Christmas photo from 9 years ago.  I had sent all the grandsons matching pajamas. This is Jon and Josh. Look at how small they were.  So cute.

Corners of my kingdom ...

Nova Scotia sunset.  Taken at the shore. Cottage Cove. We have the best sunsets in the world I think. I know I am a bit biased.

A thought to carry with you ...

  1. Mmm . . . fresh donuts and smoky bacon! Match made in heaven I think. We watched Virgin River, but I guess I'm too cynical. To me it was just too predictable and trite. Hope's character, in particular is just annoying to me. She is the mayor, but can one person really be that dumb? LOL Have a happy week. Raquel XO

  3. I watched Virgin River and loved it too. Now I'm waiting on the next season to com out. Meanwhile I found the books to read on my Kindle. They are probably better than the series.

  4. I found virgin river too soap opera like. Weak plots and poor acting. I must admit to being partial to the British detective shows, even if a bit gory.

  7. Loved the thoughts on photos on this. I especially want the Cheeseburger and Fries. it's a no no, but that did look good. Also, donuts looked yummy. I need to stop looking at these yummy food items for a while. I have what you call Covid 10. I gained 10 pounds which is so annoying.
I do think the book looks like a fun and I will check out the movie.
    Blessings and hugs!
