Outside my window ...
Its dark and cold. Yesterday was quite mild however, at least outside. There were even little bugs flying around. I think it was colder in the house than it was outside! It quickly cooled down when the sun set however.
I am thinking ...
I wonder when Eric Clapton is coming over for dinner. Haha. Dream. I have very vivid dreams and sometimes they carry on all night. Last night I dreamt I went for a Job interview at this place and it ended up being a recording studio and Eric Clapton was in there with his drummer from Cream and a large black woman and they were recording a record of some sort. Fair enough, then later on in the evening I found myself on a bus with him sitting in the seat next to me. I was trying not to look at him. I missed my bus stop because I didn't want to ask him to get up. I went home and carved a pumpkin that said, I was on the bus with Eric Clapton. A bit later I was on the bus again, with this pumpkin and who should get on the bus and sit with me again. Eric Clapton. I thought to myself, this is too strange and so I told him that we had met before at the job interview and on the bus, and I showed him my pumpkin and he thought it was cool and I ended up inviting him for dinner. I dug my address book out of my purse so he could put his phone number in it so I could call him to set up the date. Then I told him not to expect anything fancy, probably just bangers and mash or something like that because I don't cook fancy at home, and he was okay with that, and I woke up. haha! What a dream. I wonder why I have such vivid dreams?? Truth be told, he was starting to look more like Keith Urban by the end of the dream, but it was supposed to be Eric Clapton. I could even hear him singing Tears from Heaven.
In the kitchen ...
Root Vegetable Tian. Could this be one of the sides on your holiday table this year? Its a simple bake. As simple as peeling and slicing some veg, blanching it and layering it in a baking dish with a bit of olive oil, seasoning and parsley. Pretty to look at and very tasty. Healthy too!
On my "To Cook" list ...
The View from Great Island. Spiced Apple Cake, with a nutmeg glaze. This looks fabulously delicious!
Good to know ...
A guide to baking pans and their sizes, what to use them for, etc.
I am creating ...
I finished the shawl for my mom for Christmas. Now I just have to buy some picky bits and post it off. At least this won't be too heavy! I love how it turned out. I hope she does too. It should keep her shoulders warm this winter.
Poppy and Bliss. Tunisian Feathers. I love the candy colours. Complete tutorial. Free Pattern.
Easy Peasy and Fun. Yarn Wrapped Christmas Trees. Simple.
The Craft Patch. Free printable Christmas Treat Box. Cute!
Creativities. Printable city advent calendar. I love the little putz houses. This would be great done up like those.
I am reading ...
Lisette's List, by Susan Vreeland
In 1937, young Lisette Roux and her husband, André, move from Paris to a village in Provence to care for André's grandfather Pascal. Lisette regrets having to give up her dream of becoming a gallery apprentice and longs for the comforts and sophistication of Paris. But as she soon discovers, the hilltop town is rich with unexpected pleasures.
Pascal once worked in the nearby ochre mines and later became a pigment salesman and frame maker; while selling his pigments in Paris, he befriended Pissarro and Cézanne, some of whose paintings he received in trade for his frames. Pascal begins to tutor Lisette in both art and life, allowing her to see his small collection of paintings and the Provençal landscape itself in a new light. Inspired by Pascal's advice to "Do the important things first," Lisette begins a list of vows to herself (#4. Learn what makes a painting great). When war breaks out, André goes off to the front, but not before hiding Pascal's paintings to keep them from the Nazis' reach.
With German forces spreading across Europe, the sudden fall of Paris, and the rise of Vichy France, Lisette sets out to locate the paintings (#11. Find the paintings in my lifetime). Her search takes her through the stunning French countryside, where she befriends Marc and Bella Chagall, who are in hiding before their flight to America, and acquaints her with the land, her neighbors, and even herself in ways she never dreamed possible. Through joy and tragedy, occupation and liberation, small acts of kindness and great acts of courage, Lisette learns to forgive the past, to live robustly, and to love again.
I am looking forward to ...
Tina and Tony are coming for lunch today. I love having them over. They will be leaving in a couple of days to go to Australia for their daughter's wedding and Christmas. I will miss them while they are away!

BOOK OF MORMON CORNER - Today's reading - 1 Nephi 21:1-21
Question: What have you learnt from the reading today? How has temple work blessed your life?
Question: What have you learnt from the reading today? How has temple work blessed your life?
What I learnt - This chapter refers to the gathering
of the lost tribes of Israel, and how, in the fulness of times, they will
build up zion in the last days. The prisoners who sit in darkness are
those who have died and have been redeemed through temple ordinances.
The Lord never forgets his promises but fulfills them every jot and
tittle. The purpose of temples is to gather the saints.
I love to go to the
temple with questions. I love to ponder every word and deed of each session. Who is speaking, who is being taught, the relevance
of everything received. I know the Lord delights to teach us. There
isn't anything we can not know if we ask in patience and faith. "Ask,
seek, knock". Line upon line we can be taught in the Lords house. Our
homes are a place of learnng. Learning how to live the gospel. I'm
trying to pattern my home on the temple, to be clean, orderly, pure,
filled with love, peaceful and prayerful that the Lords spirit can dwell
here too. How blessed we are especially, here in the UK to have not one but two temples on
our doorstep. There are many places in the world where they have to save for a lifetime to be able to visit the temple even just once and it is a long journey of great sacrifice to get there. We need to go more often. We should go more often.
Tommorrow's Reading (Day 33) - 1 Nephi 21:22-22:10
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? When have you had the chance to be an everyday missionary?
Have a wonderful Tuesday! Don't forget along the way of your day . . .
and I do too!
I haven't been able to remember my dreams for quite some time now. The weird dreams that I have had though, I can't forget them for along time. They creep me out! Lol.
ReplyDeleteThat shawl that you made your Mom for Christmas is beautiful! I think she will love it!
You are so talented my friend, I don't think there's anything that you couldn't do, and not do it well!
Big hugs and always prayers Marie!
hahaha... oh, my goodness, I'm laughing so hard! Your Eric Clapton dream--outrageously fun! How do you have dreams like that, and remember all those details?! I don't really have dreams with famous people in them. Oh that is such fun. Pity you woke up before the dinner part!! Maybe he'd like your Root Veg Tian??!! I'll have some... and that apple cake too--YUM!! LOVE your LOVELY shawl you're crocheted for your Mom--such a special present! She's going to love it! I saw those crocheted feathers before too--those look fun. I've not tried Tunisian crochet before. So many goodies here today... Happy day, my friend--LOVE YOU!! ((LOVE & BIG HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteWhat a dream you had. I rarely remember anything I dream about, but you remember the details. I love the shawl you made for your mom it is a work of love for sure. Here I'm far from finishing up anything for Christmas. Truth is I procrastinated far too long and now I'm playing catch up. Nice you have lunch with friends to share your day. Certainly does make a dreary day brighter !
ReplyDeleteLove what you made your mom:)She will love it..what a good daughter you are Marie..:)

ReplyDeleteThanks very much Tracy, I hope my mom likes it and that she uses it! You are a beautiful needleworker yourself! I cherish everything of yours that you made. Everyone always compliments me on them. Love and hugs. xoxo
Thanks Pam! That is the ONLY thing I have done for Christmas Pam. I am so far behind I don't think I will ever catch up! I have never been this far behind! We had a lovely time with our friends. I will miss Tina while she is away! God bless! xoxo
Thanks Monique! I love my mom so much. You know because I know you loved your mom the same. We only ever have one. I know, that is such a sad song with a sad history, but a beautiful one. I remember most of my dreams. I can even remember some from when I was a child, and yet some days I can't remember why I went up the stairs, etc. lol Getting old . . . love and hugs. xoxo
What a funny dream! Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI was never a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger until one night, I had a rather romantic dream about him and me! I have no idea WHY I would ever dream romantically about Arnold. But I must say, it changed my whole attitude about him. Hahaha!
It’s funny how a dream like that can affect you Sandy! I’ve never particularly had romantic notions about Eric Clapton, ever, but it was a funny dream! However one time I did have a romantic dream about ?Mitch Blake from another world, and I had a massive crush on him after that! Lol xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Marie~
ReplyDeleteFunny dream!! I love Eric Clapton, and Keith Urban, what a great dream! I always wonder if I ate something strange when I have such vivid dreams, but I love yours!
So many cute ideas today. I love Tunisian crochet, it's kind of fun. The feathers are adorable. Your mom's shawl is so pretty, she will love it. I always have a hard time trying to figure out what to give my sweet little mother.
You could totally pull that outfit off! I love the coat, the dress, but especially the shoes! You could do it!
Your corner of the world is so gorgeous...I dream of going to Wales one day, I hope that dream comes true.
I love the dressing recipe, it's just like my mother's. She always used raw onion, and it was so delicious.
I have been devouring the cookbook! So many wonderful recipes, Marie. I can hardly wait to start making some of them, my husband has actually marked a few he wants me to try...;0)
Hugs and Love,
Barb
As always I do enjoy your daybook entry. I always learn a lot from you and I love the finds that you add to it. The shawl you made for your Mom is lovely. I think this is such a thoughtful gift. I really enjoyed all the different items you posted for Christmas. The little villege is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds like a really good story. I love the books you recommend. I still haven't had time to sit down and read a good novel yet. Maybe I can this week. Life just hasn't settled down for me yet.
I really like the darling red shoes. I have a pair of black ones kind of like them. However, this color is awesme.
The dog and cat photos is so adorable!
Sending lots of love and hugs your way!
If you ever make it to Wales Barb, you simply must come to ours and stay a few days! We would make you right at home I promise! I have always wanted a pair of red shoes. Now that I am old and I have wonky feet however, I want them to fade into the background and so I would never buy a pair of red. Maybe when I get to the other side I can have a special dispensation to wear red shoes! I like that thought!I am so pleased that you and Bob like the book! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt is a very good story LeAnn! I think you would enjoy it! Sending ove and hugs right back! xoxo
