Home . . . Sweet . . . Home . . .

Home, the spot of earth supremely blest,
A dearer, sweeter spot than all the rest.
~Robert Montgomery

It seems the minute we walk into a person's home, we know whether or not it has charm. There is a certain cosiness that attracts us with cheerful hospitality . . . a charming room which resonates with warmth invites us to sink into comfort and relax to our heart's content.

Simple beauty delights the eyes, mind and soul . . .

Serenity, harmony and order soothe our aching minds and bones . . .

A touch of whimsy here and there . . .

Personal touches and memories tug at our heart strings . . .

If you have a lot of money you can easily buy beautiful furnishings and gorgeous accessories, but . . . all the money in the world cannot buy charm and cosy . . . this is the quality of a soul, that cannot be bought or sold. All the money in the world cannot make a house a home. Making do with less is often the key to ensuring a warm and welcome harmony . . . a home that bids you to enter and to rest and stay and relax within it's walls.

"Beauty doesn't lie in the expenditure of much money, but in the artistic disposition of little."
~The Charm of the Unexpected

I love my home. It has a heart. It has my heart and I pray that all who knock and enter in feel welcome and at ease and . . . most important of all . . . loved.

I didn't feel like cooking a huge meal yesterday. We were going out in the evening to our monthly scripture study group and there are always tasty refreshments available. I decided to do a late lunch/dinner and we had my cheesy topped burgers with some rustic oven chips on the side. Relaxed, tasty, and homey . . .

I have made these before on here. Yesterday I added some lettuce tomato and sliced avocado ar garnishes and they went quite well. Delicious open faced burgers with full on cheese flavour. Try not to think of the calories and just enjoy.

1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese (I like to use strong for the most flavour)
4 slices cooked streaky bacon, crumbled
1/2 cup chopped spring onions
1/4 cup good quality mayonnaise
1 TBS tomato catsup
1 1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce (more or less according to your own tastes)
6 beef burger patties
toasted bread or hamburger buns

Heat up your gas, charcoal or oven grill. Mix all the ingredients, except for the beef patties, together in a bowl. Set aside.

Grill your burger patties under or over medium heat for 4 to 8 minutes, turning once, until the patties are cooked through and nicely browned. Carefully top each patty with some of the cheese mixture, dividing it equally amongst them. Cook, covered for 4 minutes longer, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

Remove from the grill and serve on toasted bread or buns.

Psstt . . . I did another painting yesterday. You can find the whole picture HERE. (Or just click on the picture and it will take you there.)

Have a wonderful Saturday!!

  1. Is that your house? Wow! I agree with everythng you say. Home is the place you wish you were at when you're miles away, freezing cold, in a traffic jam. There's no place like it.

    Have a nice weekend
    love, Angie, xx
