Small and Wonderful Things . . .

"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard

A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this wonderful sister God gave me! She has been my best friend for a very long time now. I love her so very much. I think in this photograph she would be about three or four and I would be six or seven.  We should actually try to recreate this photo. That would be fun! We celebrated her Birthday yesterday, although I do not know how much of a celebration it was for her as she cooked the meal. I brought the pie though and we all really enjoyed everything.  I hope that she gets to relax at least a little bit today. And I hope that she knows how very much she is loved and appreciated.

She means the world to me. She blesses my life and many others in countless ways. If you looked in the Dictionary under Saint, her photo would or at least should be there! I love you sis. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Daisies.  It is daisy season.  One of my neighbours across the way had the loveliest daisies in her front garden.  They have to be at least three feet tall. I noticed them yesterday when I was going to Glenna's to go to church. I have never seen daisies so tall or so pretty.

I love daisies.

We have had some lovely warm weather, but quite tolerable. There hasn't been much humidity to speak of. I like that. I don't mind it being warm, it's the humidity that gets to me. It is a beautiful sunny day out there again today. I am loving it!

Going to church on Sunday. Yesterday was Fast & Testimony meeting.  I love Sundays when I can go to church and partake of the sacrament and renew my covenants, take the Savior's name upon me for another week.  I love singing the hymns. I love listening to the testimony's of others, and the talks. They help to strengthen my own. This is always a great start to my week. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I was able to call Sheila at the weekend and talk to her. She is still in hospital, but she sounds good. I think she will be going from there down to the rehab in Digby. She doesn't have a mobile phone but they have loaned her one from the hospital to use while she is in there.  She is getting lots of visitors and attention which is good. I don't know how much longer she will be in the hospital. I should ask her the next time I call her. She sounded like she was doing very well. I hope and pray it continues.

This last weekend was the Special Olympics Summer Games. Eileen did not go this year due to her on-going condition. She was disappointed, but as I told her, there is always next year. Going this year would not have been prudent. Somewhere in our minds I think that the both of us thought that she would be recovering from her surgery by now, but she has yet to see the gynecologist. That will be on the 14th, and then I think they need to do some further testing before they even consider what comes next. The waiting is very difficult mentally and physically. She is very tired much of the time and does have some discomfort, but she remains positive.  Wednesday will be her first night on her own in her new apartment.  I hope that they have her internet, etc. sorted by then. She is still planning on going out for supper with us on Wednesday night and of course we have a movie night planned for Saturday.

Yesterday we sat down and did menus for her for the next two weeks and made up a grocery list. She won't have to get too much as I already sorted out a lot of meat, etc. for her.  She is off to a good start.

I give thanks each day for the blessing of enough. I am so grateful for the windows of heaven and the blessings which have been poured out upon me. I am grateful for my home and my family, for the ability which I have to enable me to earn sufficient enough for my own needs and then enough to help others a bit. God is good.

It is quiet and cool in here this morning. Very comfortable. I had a great night's sleep. I do find that I am awake every two hours to go to the loo. I don't know if that is normal or not, but at least I have been sleeping well in between times. I do find that I am very tired come late afternoon some days unless I take a short nap at some point during the day.  I never used to be a napping kind of a person. That is slowly changing. Cinnamon likes to get up and lay on top of me as I recline in my chair. She purrs and makes biscuits.  I love it.

My life is not a bad life. It has not ended up the way I thought it would end up, but that is okay. It is still a very good life. I have all that I need. I am comfortable and I have family that I love close by. I have a place to worship that I feel comfortable in. I have friends. I have a purpose that keeps me busy and occupied. The only thing missing is perhaps someone to share it with, but that's okay. I would rather be on my own methinks. I have much more freedom that way.  Life is good.

A thought to carry with you  . . .

I hope you have a beautiful day today and that your week ahead is filled to overflowing with small and wonderful things which bring you joy and the people you love most. Don't forget along the way!
