"The world is fairly studded and strewn with pennies cast broadside from a generous hand. But who gets excited by a mere penny? It is dire poverty indeed when a man is so malnourished and fatigued that he won't stoop to pick up a penny. But if you cultivate a healthy poverty and simplicity, so that finding a penny will literally make your day, then, since the world is in fact planted with pennies, you have with your poverty bought a lifetime of days. It is that simple. What you see is what you get." ~Anne Dillard
A few of the small and wonderful things which bring untold joy into my life. It's the small things in life which truly mean the most. Simple abundance . . . it's the best.

Remembering all of the dandelion bouquets I have gotten through the years and how wonderful they were to me. Presented with sweaty little hands and eyes and hearts filled with love and admiration. Is there anything more beautiful on earth? I think not.

Fresh air. After weeks of air filled with the acrid smell of smoke, the air has been wonderfully clean and fresh. You can open the doors and windows with abandon if you so wish to do so. The fires at Long lake are being held, which is a good thing also and people are being let back into the area. Many are coming back to nothing . . . but they will be helped.

This simple prayer that I was taught as a young child. It has kept with me all of my life and it taught me to be grateful and to express gratitude. That is not a bad thing.
I love that I have a comfortable prayer relationship with my Heavenly Father. Basically, I have a constant prayer going through my mind at all times anyways, but also throughout the day I take the opportunity in special moments to commune with Him in a more personal way. Sometimes silent and unspoken, at other times out loud I am ever grateful for the knowledge that I am not ever truly alone in anything, in any experience, at any time.
Remembering Nutmeg when he was a kitten and first came to live with me. He is so much bigger now, but he still has the same cheeky personality. Mr. Personality Plus I call him. Love him so much.
Equal time, too, for my little Princess Cinnamon. Not as outrageous as Nutmeg, she loves with a calm steadiness. I love her too.
I love both of them and they have added a measure of joy to my life I would never have had otherwise. How did that happen?? They both have me twisted around their little furry paws.
I am not even sure I could begin to explain how much my faith in the Savior means to me. He is everything to me. I cannot remember a time in my life when I did not believe in and trust in Jesus Christ. What He did for us is unfathomable, and yet He did it, willingly. And He continues to intercede for us each and every day. I know that not all believe in Him, not all believe Him, but for those of us who do, this is everything. I could not get through life without this. Some say that faith is a crutch. Perhaps this is true, but it is a crutch that I willingly avail myself of each and every minute of each and every day.
On this, the first official day of Autumn, I am grateful that I live in a place where there are seasons. I have always lived with seasons. There is much to love about each of them. And beauty as well. Love them all. But, I confess, Autumn is my favorite one.
There is so much to love about Autumn. I scarce know where to begin. It's all good.
This is the key to a happy life. Gratitude. Focusing on what you have instead of what you don't have. Finding joy in the now. Every single day has a silver lining. Dwell on that. When you choose to be happy and live life seeking for the positive, life just gets better. It is better to appreciate what we have already been given. Why would anyone give us more if we can't find joy in what we already have?
Grateful for family and friends, for each of you and your faithfulness in coming to read each day. I can feel the love. It means the world to me.
Faith, family, friends, home. I am blessed with abundance. I have all that I need, and then some. There is much joy to be found in having all you need rather than in having all that you want. If you have all that you need . . . then you are rich beyond belief.
A thought to carry with you . . .
