A Day Book . . .

FOR TODAY, July 29th, 2025

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ...

This was yesterday morning and not a site anyone wants to see.  My neighbor across the way.  Thankfully all was okay.  She had only called 911 to see if she should take a certain medication, and they sent the paramedics. When you live on a street which is full of elderly people you never want to see the ambulance outside anyone's door. Fortunately, all was well this time and the paramedics left shortly after, alone. She was sitting outside later in the day and I checked to make sure she was okay and told her that if she ever needed anything she could knock on my door any time.

I AM THINKING ...

I had my father here for supper yesterday so Cindy and Dan could have a day out doing something they enjoyed. It was really nice to have him here. He came in the early afternoon, and we enjoyed each other's company for a number of hours. I didn't cook anything spectacular. He doesn't want anything spectacular. I made him some pea soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. He also had some crackers with it and I gave him a plain donut for dessert. He was perfectly happy with all of it. Not having to turn out something special also gave us the opportunity to really spend time together without me having to spend the whole time in the kitchen. We had a nice visit and that was what I wanted.  After he left to go home, I noticed his car key with his housekey on it laying on the sofa so I had to make a quick trip to Cindy's to make sure he could get back into their house. I didn't want him sitting out in the heat waiting for them to come home.

I AM ALSO THINKING ...

Just a few more days and we will be into August. This year is really slipping off the calendar very quickly, I think. there is another heat warning in effect for today and on into tomorrow. High temperatures and humidity.  No rain is forecast for the foreseeable future either. We badly need rain. The province is in drought conditions, and the fire risk is high.

Crispy Chicken Wraps

IN THE KITCHEN ...

Crispy Chicken Wraps. Quick, easy and delicious, these go together in a snap and are delicious and customizable. You can keep them plain with just lettuce, tomato and dressing or you can add other favorite things such as bacon or cheese, etc. A tasty way to keep your cool in the kitchen!

One Pot Teriyaki Noodles from The Schmidty Wife.  These look simple and delicious. I like any kind of noodle.

THIS I KNOW TO BE TRUE ...

Having a positive attitude towards all that life throws at you is half the battle. Life can throw some pretty big and hard rocks in your way. How you choose to deal with them is all down to you. I am not a sit down and cry kind of girl. Oh, trust me when I say I do have a good boohoo and often, but I don't wallow. I get up and move forward as best as I can.

SOMETHING THAT IS NICE ...

The song the blackbird sings. It is such a beautiful tune. Most birds sing really beautiful songs.

SOMETHING TO READ ...

FOUND, by Erin Kinsley

When 11 year old Evan vanishes without trace, his parents are plunged into their worst nightmare. Especially as the police, under massive pressure, have no answers.

But months later Evan is unexpectedly found, frightened and refusing to speak. His loving family realise life will never be the same again. DI Naylor knows that unless those who took Evan are caught, other children are in danger. And with Evan silent, she must race against time to find those responsible...

This is a definite page turner. I love a good whodunit!

  1. I have little one cup cottage teapots, so adorable. I keep them on display, never used them. Nice simple dinner with your dad, glad you found his keys quickly and got them back to him. Heat and humidity warming still here, hardly going outside in the afternoons. Stay cool.
