BOOK OF MORMON CORNER
Today's Reading - Mosiah 12:17-13:4
Question - What have you learnt from the reading today? How do you "apply your heart to understanding"?

Thoughts -   Sometimes I need to pray really hard and ponder what I have read for several days. Reading it more than once or twice or sometimes even ten or more times at different intervals over a couple of days. Sometimes the understanding comes within minutes but other times it takes appreciably longer. There are readings I still can't completely fathom but that is where my faith comes in because I KNOW enough to know that the BOM is true and it doesn't matter if I understand everything right now. I have faith that one day all the pieces will click together and at just the right time that I need them to.

I listened to a BYU devotional address by Sister Sheri Dew recently called 'Will you engage in the wrestle?' It's really good!! I think her message answers today's question well. She speaks about being a 'seeker of truth'. Which to me is the same thing as 'applying our hearts to understanding'. It's about having faith. It's about receiving personal revelation. It's about our conversion.

Sister Dew quotes - "Spiritual wrestlers are seekers. They are men and women of faith who want to understand more than they presently do and who are serious about increasing the light and knowledge in their lives."

"Seekers have certain habits that are key to learning to communicate with God. For starters, they engage in the wrestle, meaning they work at it. They immerse themselves regularly in the scriptures, because the scriptures are the textbook for the Lord's language. They also work to be increasingly pure-pure in their heart and thoughts, pure in what they say, watch, read, and listen to. Purity invites the Spirit. And then, pure seekers listen."

"Learning by faith is as crucial as learning by study, because there are some things we cannot learn from a book."

Tomorrow's reading (Day 112) - Day 112 ~ Mosiah 13:5-35
Question - What was the purpose of the law? How can we apply Abinadi's message in our lives?

In the kitchen today . . .  White Bean Turkey Chili.  This is fabulously tasty and very simple, also low fat, high fibre and very healthy!

Have a wonderful Friday.  Don't forget!

  3. Hi Marie~

Of course you know this is my favorite day! I think you find the cutest things! I think I pinned that waffle cushion, I love it, and it could really be dolled up to fit in any room.

I've always loved the way little, "felted" things look. I would love to find someone, or a good tutorial so I could learn how to do it.

I have some fabric that I have been wanting to make pillows with, this tutorial looks so easy...thank you! I have saved fabric from projects that I need to do something with, or get rid of. I hate getting rid of fabric...:0/ Those little pleated pockets are so cute! Wouldn't they be cute on an apron?

All the crochet patterns are adorable. I have so much yarn that needs to be sorted out, and I think tea cozies would be just the thing to make...I love them. The crocheted pillow is gorgeous, but I would really have to study and try to do the Intarsia crochet...it looks complicated, but like everything else, is probably easy when you learn how.

Your BOM thoughts were really interesting, and will give me something to ponder on. I feel like we are all in a wrestling match right now. We are all being pulled this way and that, and Satan is working over-time to get us to do his biding...especially the youth. I love, Sheri Dew's idea of wrestling seekers...seekers of truth. I know that most of us are seekers of the truth, anytime we actively engage is goodness and truth, reading the scriptures, pondering and reading conference talks and good books. Then praying for help in understanding and putting to use all that we have learned and have yet to learn. Such good thoughts, Marie! I'm always inspired to do better after reading your blog!

    Have a wonderful week-end, XOXOX!

    Hugs and Love,
    Barb

P.S. I'm so glad that you have found a Dr. that you trust, that means a lot. I hope they can get to the bottom of your issues, and make changes in medication if necessary. Always keeping you in my prayers!

  5. That Caribbean shawl would be so pretty as an afghan Marie. Sewing pretty pillows like these are not only one of a kind..cheaper too.

My Mom use to knit slippers like these when my kids were babies..warm, stayed on. Blue and wte, maroon and wte for my son. Pink with wte and purple with wte for my daughter..last forever.. still have some.

I still have the 2 crochet hangers that my aunt bought. Those curtains look so ritzy with the crocheted top..love.
Crocheted trees would be a nice addition for Christmas decorations..christmas colors.
My Mom gave me a few of her aprons that have these pockets.

These decorations are cute for Easter on a tree.. if tiny. I put Easter decorations on a little tree last year..fun.

Well I finally was able to sleep earlier..stop my mind racing..hope you slept well too.
    Hugs and lovexo

  6. As always I love your Friday Finds and often visit the links. You had some great crocheting projects and I especially loved the scarf. I do wish I could get back to crocheting. I think it is becoming a lost art for me.
The reusable lunch bags are awesome. I also liked the pockets; so cute.
I really love your thoughts on The Book of Mormon. We are starting to read it for the 3rd time since October and each time I read it I have more thoughts and questions. This time we are going to journal those feelings and thoughts that come. I am excited to try that.
Thanks for the Link to Sherrie Dew's talk; I must read it.
Your White Bean turkey chili looks delicious.
    Sending loving thoughts and hugs!
