FOR TODAY April 22nd, 2014
Outside my window...
It's overcast at the moment, but I think we will get some sunshine eventually. Sunny days often begin with a bit of cloud, like a layer of fog that needs to clear.
I am thinking...
`•.¸.•´¸¸.¸.☆¨"“You never lose by loving.
You always lose by holding back.
~Barbara DeAngelis
I think we need to act on our promptings. If our gut is telling us to call someone, or hug someone, or say I love you, or do a good turn. Instinct is telling us something and we need to act on it. Never be afraid to love someone and let them know it. If they reject it that's their loss. You will always know you did the right thing. Love is never wrong.
I am thankful...
I am thankful for having been brought up by goodly parents.
In the kitchen...
A delicious casserole made from leftover ham. Ham Spaghetti Casserole. So tasty!
On my "To Cook" list...
Parmesan Cauliflower Bites from Damn Delicious. They look really good. A bit of ranch dressing to dip them in. Heaven.
I am creating...
DIY envelopes. Any type any size. From Poppy Talk. It's a great tutorial.
The sweetest little pattern for crocheting a Yorkshire Terrier. Is it not adorable? I know! So cute! I found the pattern on Craftsy.
If you are into ephemera there is a whole collection of stamps, etc. on Creartful Dodger.
I have no source for this, but I have fallen in love with this prairie point pillow edging. It's so sweet. Prairie points are so easy to do too. Love this idea.
I am going...
I have an appointment for a hair cut tomorrow. I know I thought it was last week. It wasn't it was for this week. It is overdue too . . . the ends are starting to curl up in a rather annoying way! Yes, I am an every hair in place kinda girl. It bugs me when they aren't.
I am wondering...
Just listening to some children on their way to school and their happy voices as they walk past the house. It reminds me of a time years ago at my mom's and dad's. My first marriage had broken up and I had moved home. I was hanging laundry out early one morning and listening to the children walk past on their way to school. Some things never change. Almost 40 years have passed since that day, but there is a continuity in some things, which I am grateful for in an ever changing world.
I am reading...
Keeper of the Light by Diane Chamberlain.
In this, the first book of the Keeper of the Light trilogy . . . Dr. Olivia Simon is on duty in the emergency room of North Carolina’s Outer Banks Hospital when a gunshot victim is brought in. Midway through the desperate effort to save the young woman’s life, Olivia realizes who she is-Annie O’Neill. The woman Olivia’s husband, Paul, is in love with. When Annie dies on the operating table, she leaves behind three other victims. Alec O’Neill, who thought he had the perfect marriage. Paul, whose fixation on Annie is unshakable. And Olivia, who is desperate to understand the woman who destroyed her marriage. Now they are left with unanswered questions about who Annie really was. And about the secrets she kept hidden so well.
I have to say I really enjoy Diane Chamberlain's writing. This is the third book I am reading which she has written and I have loved each one of them.
I am hoping...
Missionaries are coming for supper tonight, the Elders. I am making a pot of chili which I will serve with rice and corn bread and I think a rhubarb crumble for dessert. I am hoping they like it.
Makes me Smile...
Tis true.
I am learning...
I am learning how to let go of the things that hurt me. It's an ongoing process and I am not sure if I will ever quite master it, but I am trying.
Around the House ...
There is a part of me that would love to rip up the carpeting on the stairs and do this. I just love it. No source, just a pretty picture. I think it's quite beautiful.
I love this painted blue cabinet with the mirrored door fronts from DaWanda Shop. Well, maybe not the mirrored door fronts. Those are a bit bizarre, but definitely the blue cabinet.
No source again, but I love the way these drawer fronts have been wall papered and those curtains are plucking at my heart strings. I think I must be in a flowery mood this morning!
Love the look of wild flowers in glass jars on the window sill. We have planted lots of wild flowers this year in the garden. I am looking forward to lots of little bouquets like this!
Again, no source . . . but I am in love. I adore bird houses and this is just so sweet. I want.
I am pondering...

Courage not compromise brings the smile of God's approval.

I think all too often in these modern times we allow the shouters to make us back down on our principles. Pondering how I can be bolder in the face of such opposition.
A favorite quote for today...

One of my favourite things...
I love little needle felted creatures. I am in awe of this talent. This was found in Mrs Bumble's Etsy Shop. Her work is beautiful. This kitten is so sweet, even if it does remind me of the annoying cats that hang around our fish pond trying to catch our gold fish.
A few plans for the rest of the week...
Once again not a lot in my date book.
A peek into my day...
I love to watch the birds in the garden. They are mostly sparrows, but occasionally we catch a glimpse of another type and sometimes some very rare and unusual ones. This is a Male Sparrow Hawk that was in our garden late Sunday afternoon.
He was there for quite a while and I managed to get a few good photographs through the dining room window. It was about the size of a small crow. It was just luck that I happened to be at the window when he arrived!!
