A Day Book . . .

FOR TODAY, March 17th, 2026

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ...

Its raining. Its wet. Its a bit muddy. Its garbage day. The snow is all but gone. Yay!

I AM THINKING ...

Today is Elaine's Birthday and I am wanting to wish her the happiest of days! I thought you all might like to do the same!  Happy Birthday Elaine. I hope you have the special day you deserve! May it be richly filled with love, cake and the people and things that you love most!

I AM ALSO THINKING ...

We are one day closer to spring. Yay! Also Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

I AM GRATEFUL FOR ...

Simple joy, quiet moments, peaceful days.

I AM ALSO GRATEFUL FOR ...

My little house. When so many are homeless. This is a blessing I don't take for granted.

Irish Short Scones

IN THE KITCHEN ...

For Saint Patrick's Day. Irish Short Scones. Buttery. Crumbly. Delicious. Eileen and I each inhaled one almost as soon as they came out of the oven. So good and such a simple make.

ON MY "TO COOK" LIST ...

One Bowl Lemon Dessert. Weeknight Dishes. Looks fabulously tasty and I love lemon anything.

THIS I BELIEVE ...

There is no such thing as a charmed life. Some of us just hide our struggles better than others. Be kind.

SOMETHING THAT IS NICE ...

Neat and tidy cupboards.

SOMETHING ELSE THAT IS NICE ...

Fresh farm eggs.

I AM WANTING TO CREATE ...

SOMETHING I ENJOY ...

Daily scripture study. I love to dig into the word of God. I always take something new from them. Jeremiah 29:11 is one of my favorite scriptures.

SOMETHING ELSE I ENJOY ...

Listening to the radio. I like the oldies.

I AM READING ...

IN THE GREAT QUIET, by Laura Vogt

A pioneer unwaveringly endures the Oklahoma frontier in an epic adventure about a woman haunted by secrets and searching for home.

A cannon booms at high noon, and the race begins in the Oklahoma land rush of 1893.

Amid the crowd is Minnie Hoopes. Tenacious and fiercely independent, she is determined to endure the brutal frontier and create a life of her own. Guarding her solitude, she distances herself from bordering homesteaders and finds peace under the starry nights of the vast frontier. But this is outlaw country, and Minnie soon has the blood of two gunfighters on her hands. After a renegade outlaw named Stot discovers her secrets, she forms an unlikely friendship with him. With each passing season, Minnie’s past grows more haunting and threatens the future she has risked everything to build. Minnie raced into the Wild West alone, but her grandest journey in the frontier wilderness is one she never saw coming.

Based on the true story of the author’s great-great-grandparents, this sweeping and transportive survival story explores a woman’s connection with the land, her reconciliation with the past, and her elemental search for home against all odds.

Settle in, I’ve stories to tell.

I love stories based on true stories.  Only just begun this novel. So far it's a cracker!
