A Day Book . . .

FOR TODAY, June 3, 2025

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW ...

Quiet and sunny. It is supposed to be a warm day today. Yesterday was warm as well, but there was a nice breeze blowing. Things have not been overly hot yet, that will come. I hope that they have my heat pump fixed by then so that I will be able to cool things off in here.  It was leaking gas from the outside unit, so they had to order a part. It could take several weeks.  I sure have had my fair share of problems with the thing, but I am grateful for it as it helps to keep the costs of heating and cooling my place down. That is a great blessing.

I AM THINKING ...

I had the best night's sleep last night. I fell asleep right away and slept right through until this morning, not even waking up once to go to the bathroom.  That was amazing. I usually get up at least once for that. There were no bad dreams to destroy my peace.  Just blissful sleep and a few happyish dreams. What a blessing!

I AM ALSO THINKING ...

I had a conversation with a close friend yesterday and she said something which struck a chord with me. She said that I have been carrying around guilt for the past five years that is not mine to carry, and that I need to let it go. I realized she was right about that.  I have been carrying around guilt about what happened.  None of it was my doing. None of it was my fault. I was a victim too, albeit in a different way.  It's time to let it all go and start living my life as it was meant to be lived.

Small Batch Garlic Cheese Bread

IN THE KITCHEN ...

Small Batch Garlic Cheese Bread.  Ooey, gooey, cheesy deliciousness.  Amounts are given for one serving so that you can make as many or as few of these delicious garlic toasts as you wish to make.  I love garlic bread with pasta.

ON MY "TO COOK" LIST ...

Curry Puffs.  From Rasa Malaysia.  These look fabulous. Filled with spicy chicken and potatoes. I wonder if they are similar to Samosa.

I KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE ...

It's one of the lessons that life has taught me. Life is better when you look outside of yourself and serve others in whatever capacity you can. Life becomes fuller and more meaningful when you share what you have, talents, etc. with those around you and when you try to make the world a better place in small and meaningful ways. We may not be able to do great things, but "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass". ~Alma 37:6

SOMETHING TO READ ...

THE STRAWBERRY PATCH PANCAKE HOUSE, by Laurie Gilmore

As a world-renowned chef, single dad Archer never planned on moving to a small town, let alone running a pancake restaurant. But Dream Harbor needs a new chef, and Archer needs a community to help raise his daughter, Olive.

Iris has never managed to hold down a job for more than a few months. So when it’s suggested that Archer is looking for a live-in nanny, she almost runs in the opposite direction. Now, Iris finds herself in a whole new world. One where her gorgeous new boss lives right across the hall and likes to cook topless…

Keeping everything strictly professional should be easy, right?

The Strawberry Patch Pancake House is a cozy romantic mystery with a single dad and found family dynamic, a small-town setting and a HEA guaranteed!

A little bit of fluff. A spring romance.

  2. What happened is not your fault at all, but it is so hard not to think so. You are living a much better life now, ans so much quality family time. Lots of pretty things today. Hope you are feeling better about your hair. Should be getting warmer now, hope the part for the heat pump comes in soon. Off to the library today. I’m sure you will have fun, no matter what you get up too.

  4. You know Marie, I think the fact that even some of the worst of people are loved at some point by other people, is one of the great mercies GOD extends even to the most unworthy. As representatives of HIS love to all. I do not understand it either nor why HE does not ZAP these awful people out of existence. Especially those who harm children. I loved our daughter's EX as a son and he did treat me very wonderfully (it suited his purposes and he is the best actor ever). But what he did to our daughter is without excuse. And there are no words now for what that pedo did to our granddaughter, his own blood. The extent of mental illness that produces these crimes is beyond understanding. But yes, you do not need to carry the burden for the criminal's extreme sins. Nothing you did can be at fault. It just shows you are a very kind, forgiving individual to have been used that way. WE ALL WERE USED, Marie...how do you suppose we feel as it is our beloved grandchildren who was harmed. In fact, our little 12 yr old granddaughter is having a really rough time now...our daughter is in process of getting her a counselor. In hopes of helping her. If anyone is to blame, it falls on the legal system that has coddled and helped the criminal all these years and to this date continues. I personally think there must be a great many more people in the system who are also guilty of such crimes or else why would they help out the pedo?? We keep asking GOD to intervene and remove this creep from our family having to do with him. So far a prayer not answered. But we keep asking anyway. Glad you got good sleep...hope that continues...you should be able to sleep as you are a good person without guile!!!
    HUGS, Elizabeth xoxo
